Not My Normal Thanksgiving

Due to work and school I wasn't able to go home for Thanksgiving, but I survived because my sister"s" came up to be with me. We made chicken instead of turkey. I made pie but the dog ate it.

Morgan was wonderful and made everything. We were able to eat for 3 days.

We did a lot of other things and I still managed to budget my money. It really stinks to be completly broke, I've never been this poor in my entire life. All my money is going towards rent which leaves me with absolutly nothing. I dream of the day my loan check comes. My battery in my camera died so I missed a lot of great photo opportunities.

I got a new job doing stock at American Eagle. Menards found out before I told them. I've never seen my manager so sad.

I did a lot of knitting during my "Thanksgiving break". I made a scarf for a girl at work and a washcloth for Brittany. I decided I'd model the scarf.

I'm still working hard on Scott's sweater. I'm probably going to have to mail it to him unless I slave to it daily so I get it finished by Christmas.

School is already almost done. I talked to my advisor and luckily all my credits transfered from fox which is awesome because that saves me thousands of dollars. Plus I'll be done with school in a year and a half.

I love the washcloth..it's really cute! (and pink!) I'm sorry to hear that you are broke, I know how you feel because I haven't been working much at all. I think its funny that you have another new job. How do you find the time to have two jobs with going to school? I hope your doing well! love you, miss you!

Chicago Chrismukkah + Michigander Xmas

Before heading out on our trip we let the kids open their Christmas gifts from us. A knitted sweater for Theo and a kitty dress for Meadow (I fixed the straps for her) both made by me. I wanna a sweater. Scott got them new compact sleeping bags. We all got smaller sleeping bags this year and we'll now have a lot more room in our car. This year we had talked about hosting my family at the cottage. Then meeting up in Milwaukee, then meeting in Chicago. But in the end we made stops in Chicago and Lowell this Christmas. We left on a Sunday which was nice to have a few days to prepare. On the way down to Chicago we stopped at our favorite roadside restaurant, Foster Cheese Haus. We had plans to break up our drives so we didn't have to rush like we normally do. We had made it just before the cheese haus was set to close for the winter. Duluth Workcation: June 2022 Edition

Had another shoot up in Duluth. This time an overnight stay was included. So I brought the family along. Then we just stayed the rest of the weekend at Blake's. As soon as we both returned home earlier in the week we had to get our attic prepped. We were getting all the knob and tube replaced so insulation could go in. Back in Duluth we opted for the room with the lake view. The kids wanted to go swimming, but Brooke had other plans and I had to take some twilight photos. The kids and I walked around Canal Park. Freaster Sunday

We decided to stay home for Easter this year. We've missed the past few years and seem to be okay with it. We still celebrate in our own way. For breakfast I made oat bran. This time I sweetened it with a little agave. Scott seems to think I only like my oats bland, but that's not true. I make truly interesting oats. Agave, my friends, does not make oatmeal tasty. If you're looking for a quick, but complex variation try this recipe the next time you have a few extra minutes -- unless you like bland-meal. Steel-cut Oats w/ Apple Chips, Raisins and Cinnamon 1 C Water 2/3 C Steel Cut Oats Handful of Apple Chips 1/4 C Raisins 2 T Brown Sugar 1 t Cinnamon Pinch of Salt Cook the first two ingredients for a few minutes over medium heat. When water starts to simmer lower heat and add dried fruit. Cook until tender. While still on heat add a teaspoon of cinnamon, two tablespoons brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Eat.
