Nicollet Open Streets is Better Than Ever

After my parents came to visit the kids discovered a new cartoon channel on tv, MeTV Toons. It's like the early days of Cartoon Network. Classic cartoons 24/7. Sad to think that our porch mornings are coming to an end for the year.  But not yet, it's still been pretty hot this month. On this summery fall day we went to Nicollet Open Streets.  Well, Theo was being crabby while biking and Brooke was pointing out that we should've walked. It's Open Streets, you gotta bring a bike! There was a Ninja Warrior course outside of Ace Hardware. Theo did this inflatable course over and over.  This finally fixed everyones sour mood. Meadow enjoyed the more challenging course.  He loved this so much. We checked out Tower Games for the first time. Cool place. Maybe we need to get into a family D&D game this winter. We made it all the way down to 46th and Nicollet and then made our way back. Theo had been crabby all day. We dropped the kids off at home and walked over to Pat'...

The Last Open Streets Ever?

We had one last week of summer so Meadow and I went swimming one last time this year. It was unseasonably warm for early October in Minneapolis.    Good morning sleepy bear. It's Open Streets day on Lyndale!    Meadow had been asking for Swedish pancakes so that is what I made today. Hmmm... I wonder if she remembers when we had Swedish pancakes up on the Gunflint Trail  at Loon Lake Lodge . Man, do we have to go back there. I think that's what gave her the idea.  These were awfully delicious. Where can folks get the recipe? I think I just used the first result in Google.  We didn't realize until today that Meadow's bike is much too small for her. Sorry kiddo. Looks like we'll be on the hunt for a new one for her. We biked on our wonderful front yard bike lanes and then over to Lyndale.    We ended up parking our bikes since the street was so crowded. They really should split it so bikes are on one side and pedestrians on the other. This migh...

The Last Weekend on Bryant Avenue We Made it to Open Streets

We've been making sure that Meadow plays with the neighbor kids before we move. We'll really miss their whole family.  All of our neighbors have been great.

Painting Our Bedroom, Open Streets and Evening Walks

I always say we don't need to add another hobby. I always lose out. This time Meadow got roller blades. She had been asking for some and found ones her size at Play It Again Sports. It gets her outside and keeps her practicing for ice skating.

Open Streets Lyndale (Mostly)

Now that its finally nice out we have started going out for family bike rides after dinner. While going around Lake Harriet, we stopped at the beach to play.

Meadow, Mama and Theo Go to Open Streets Lyndale

After we ate breakfast Theo is ready for his first nap. That is before they were to head out for the day.

A Scorching, and Then Not So Much, Twin Cities Weekend

Today was the first heat advisory of the summer. Meadow woke up and went right to playing with Gumby's.  I was awoken by silence. Our power had gone out. I guess a tree fell on a line up the alley. Too hot to cook so cereal it is. It was hot. We needed groceries. So we braved the farmers market. It was too hot to bike so we drove instead, not my favorite. The crops have been late this year, so this was the first good selection of the season. I like that Meadow is older now and we can ask her what vegetables she wants. Amanda had messaged us asking if we wanted to meet at Weber Pool. Heck yes. We thought about biking but changed our mind. I hate driving to places within biking distance. This is a pretty nice pool. So sweet. We were nice enough to follow up the pool time with Amanda with a stop at the new Webber Park Library. Meadow and I love the library and it was a good excuse to get in some air conditioning. ...
