The Last Mayday?

I was making cardamon and sour cream waffles when I hear my camera go off.

Snow, Snow and More Snow (and Some Sledding)

What started out as a lame winter of mild temps and no snow turned into record snowfall. At least it would before the month of February.

How To Do Nothing On a Sunday

Meadow requested banana split waffles for breakfast. Well, we had no maple syrup, but we did have bananas and chocolate syrup. She then showed off her letter writing skills. It hasn't taken long for her to boast about everything she's learning at school. Little buddy is a good sitter now. Meadow can eat at a glacial pace at times. I guess it's good that school hasn't made her a quick eater yet. Theo is also working on his army crawl. While Scott watched the Packer game. Meadow and I did some shopping. Will this team ever play a full game? Come on Packers! We first went over to Michael's to pick up a new cutting mat that I ordered. I also checked out frames.  Then we headed over to the Halloween Store where Meadow was in heaven.  This made me laugh. She also tried on a giant hand giving the middle finger and said, "I have an idea!"  This would have been an awesome costume for Scott if it wasn't so ...

A Week in at the Condo

One of the main reasons we picked the condo was the awesome location. We get to be close to restaurants and shops in every direction, but we also will still be near big parks.  On the first day that Brooke worked after the move Meadow and I explored nearby Lyndale Farmstead. I knew there was a sled hill, but didn't realize that main hill was behind the Wirth House. Kind of funny that our house was by Theo Wirth Parkway and now we live by his house. We hadn't brought our sleds, but we did have our ice skates. It's been freezing the past few weeks, so when it warmed up on Wednesday, Meadow and I went for a walk over to Lake Harriet and the slumbering rose garden. The balmy day had made the lake quite puddly, but nothing that was unsafe for a good frozen lake hike. A few fisherman were enjoying the warm ice fishing weather. We'll be going to this beach a lot with Meadow and the new baby. The reason I got Meadow to go for our l...

A 50s Era Map Guides Us on a Twin Cities Day Trip in the Fiala's Giant SUV

Another week and another house full of crazy Fiala kids. One day June asked if he could have a half-sandwich/half-bagel. We obliged.

Get Up You Lazy Sinners, It's Open Streets West Broadway

As we were driving back from the cottage Scott said, "Let's stay home this weekend." To me that meant alright summers over now it's time to do some housework. I actually just wanted to go to Open Streets West Broadway .

On The Fourteenth Day Of Advent We Redecorated The Tree And Did Other Stuff

Brooke has become our breakfast champion. I don't mind giving this task up. Somehow Scott has taken over the roll of making dinner and I have taken over making breakfast.  Rye waffles with raspberry suace. I ground my own rye flour and used raspberries that we picked this summer. Some fellow bike nerds over north invited me to join their little bike committee. I decided it was a worthy cause if it means the North Minneapolis Greenway gets built. While Scott was doing that, Meadow and I went to three different stores looking for dress shoes for her.  This month has been so busy that I've taken a break from cleaning. We have a few guests coming over this week so today was to be spent getting the house back in order. I started with kitchen. I finally put up Meadow's coat hooks after months of slacking. So much better. We swore a few dozen times getting our tree onto its new stand. At least this tree isn't as pokey as las...
