I had to travel to St. Croix Falls over in Wisconsin and then all the way across Minnesota in Fergus Falls to shoot a couple of hotels. After my second hotel shoot I stopped by Dairyland before heading home. This was the correct choice. I even got a little tour of the place from the owner. Pretty cool to see the old radio switch board from when they were a proper drive-in.

  It's Mayday, the greatest day of the year in Minneapolis. I warned Theo that it was going to be hot today but he still insisted on wearing his high wool socks.  Can you blame him. They look so cool. We biked over like we always do. So much easier these days living just across the highway from the South Side.   We left later than planned and didn't have our bikes ready so by the time we arrived there were no more spots on the curb to sit. We hung out in the shade until we heard the Battletrain coming.       It'll be here soon. Or will it? Every 30 feet this giant cardboard castle did a little show. That would explain the long hold up for the parade to start. 

  A good chunk of our front yard was bare dirt. So, we tried our hand at growing grass from seed. It started out well.   First we put down just seed but the birds kept eating it.    Our house came with three raised garden beds. Me and and the kids each get our own. The kids were responsible for cleaning up and planing their own gardens. They got to pick what they wanted to grow too. 

We had planned on going up to Duluth again, but decided to instead spend some time around the cities. Theo has been slowly practicing his walking.

Scott shot a wedding and was told I could come after he was done shooting. I put Meadow to bed and Emma came over so I could meet Scott. Let's just say I was pretty tired the next day. After the wedding we sort of celebrated our fifth anniversary by going over to our favorite bar, the Aster Cafe . Brooke drank too much. I made her a hangover cure breakfast: hash browns, eggs and bacon. Only I made twice as much hash browns than we needed. Earlier this week we went to Costco to get our tires rotated. We mentioned our air pressure signal kept going off. It turns out we had a nail in our side wall. I kind of figured there was a leak of some sort. They put our spare on and said they would call us when a new tire came in. That was Wednesday and today is Sunday. Our plans to go apple picking were shot down. We debated for 2 hours in the morning if we should go camping or stay at home and work on the house. After being indecisive on whether we should hike in, canoe in, bike in or drive in, working on the yard won out. We enjoyed our late breakfast outside. We really need to paint that table this year. I kind of like the patina it's developed. We brought out Meadow's tent to keep her entertained and out of the sun. First thing I did was put wood chips in my garden.  This will be full of hostas and ferns in a few weeks or months. We'll see how those bulbs do. My coworker thinned some day lilies from her yard and gave us 3 garbage bags full. The other night we dug up the weedy patch behind our garage and planted them there. I have been wanting to put something in the spot for years. Especially since we tried to plant a wildflower garden that failed and the city threatened to fine us if we didn't cut it down. I spent my Saturday morning at Wirth Chalet for the Assemble 26th Avenue public artists workshop. Meanwhile Meadow and I fed Honey while Tyler and Emma are out of town.  When I walked in their kitchen the toaster oven turned itself on and the timer went off. It freaked me out a little so I unplugged it.  I'm loving Emma's twig fence.  We headed over to their house before eating breakfast. Back at home Meadow sliced some fruit for our breakfast. Giant yogurt bowls. After that I spent all morning baking a Lemon Rhubarb Bundt cake and a loaf of bread. On Friday we made gyro nachos. These were even better as leftovers.
