Bread, Skype and Weeds

For Valentines I made Scott a bunch of coupons. One of them was breakfast in bed. When we woke up he said, "Breakfast in bed coupon day?" We didn't have any milk, so I said I could only make oatmeal. He changed his mind then asked for his Grandpa's oatmeal. After I made it and brought it upstairs he was back to sleep. An hour later he realized it was there then said, "This doesn't count towards my coupon right?" What a punk. Oatmeal is a zero on the breakfast scale. It's something you eat on a Tuesday morning. I thought coupons had some value to it. Still love you babe.   After only a week, a few of my plants have already sprouted. I hope they don't get too big before I can transplant them to the garden. Too big will probably mean that they'll survive. So, I'm not to worried.  This weeks bread is Potato Rosemary. I made a biga the night before and brought it out to warm up.  As this had potato in it I had to ...

Scott(ie)'s Birthday

Luckily Scott's Birthday this year was on Thursday, a day we both had off so we could spend the whole day together. Isn't it funny that she calls me Scott, but everyone else calls me Scottie? His morning started out with breakfast in bed. He's been asking me to do this for him for awhile. I usually have to eat immediatley upon waking, but today I sacraficed for him. This is the first time she's made me breakfast in forever. Then I spent the majority of my day making his birthday cake. This year he picked out a key lime meringue. Since I had nothing to do, I just relaxed. I made a white cake with lime zest, lime filling and meringue frosting. We had leftover carbonara for lunch. Then I assembled the cake. About this time I started making Blueberry Ice Cream. It all seemed to go well, but the half and half I used was apparently bad. It ended up tasting like goat cheese ice cream.  Everything was ready for our friends...

Freaster Sunday Strikes Back

I easily get excited about watching plants grow. I probably check my seedlings at least 3 times a day. I'm happy that my peppers are finally starting to sprout and the cabbage is already growing.  Every week Scott asks me to make him breakfast in bed. He was still in bed when the oatmeal finished so I brought it up to him.  He just likes any excuse to not get out of bed right away. I told him to hurry up if he wanted to find his Easter basket before church.  This was nice and all, but I'd prefer if the two of us had breakfast in bed, together. That worked because he was up 15 minutes later. He checks the bathroom first.  I looked everywhere downstairs and didn't find the basket on the first pass. He thinks I hid it in the same spot as last year.  It's a good place to hide things. I even looked in the nook booths. And it was under the bed in the guest room.  This and St. Nick's are a lot of fun fo...
