An Ice Skating Birthday Party for Theo

Since Scott was still not feeling great on his actual birthday. We postponed Theo's birthdays wishes a few days. Since seeing the commercials for Burger King, he has been begging to go so he could get the $7 deal.
That's the $5 Duo and $7 Trio, Brooke. I have to say it wasn't as good as I remember. Dont know the last time I ate BK.

We picked this BK for the playground.

Theo's other wish was to go the Dog Man movie. We tried out the Emagine theater in Eagan.

Got the whole theater to ourselves and didn't have to rent it out this time.

I swear, it was a good time.

For his birthday party this year, we finally settled on having an ice skating party at our house. We had lucked out with the weather. Today was the last cold day before a big warm up.

Meadow and I barely decorated.

As soon as his friends arrived we opened gifts right away. We used to wait to open gifts after the party, but I guess kids get really excited to see their friends open their gifts from them.

Who knew?

I love that Theo has boy and girl friends. Think it was good having a big sister.

Before heading outside we had birthday brownies. Theo chose brownies over cake. We also wanted something simple as kids get too excited at birthday parties and don't eat much.

No more expensive ice cream cakes for the kids. That's saved for us Tuskas.

Happy Birthday to Theo!

Some of his friends weren't as comfortable on the ice but were willing to try.

A few didn't have skates, but we luckily had an old pair of Meadow's skates plus her adjustable blades.

Theo said it was the best party ever.

One of his friends wanted to keep skating. The party went by too quickly.

The warmer temps and sun mean we can open the porch again.

We finished off this birthday Saturday with a round of the game of Life.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Honeymoon: Madeline Island Without a Kayak? At Least We Brought Bikes.

We made it safely to Bayfield without getting attacked by any bears . I think that's because of my wily driving skills.

A Fall Farmers Market Visit

I prefer the local King Field Farmers Market or the bougie Mill City Farmers Market, but we decided to stop by the OG Minneapolis Farmers Market. Early October is peak farmers market season here in Minnesota. Scott claims the Kingfield Farmers Market has the same stuff but I don't believe it.  There's just the same stuff 5 times over at the Minneapolis Farmers Market. I'll admit this place is pretty great despite being in the armpit of a freeway.
