On The Twenty-Fourth Day Of Advent We Celebrated Christmas Eve with Scott's Family

Even though Meadow had already had breakfast she wanted in on our French toast for second breakfast. What a little hobbit.

She is a short stack after all.

I didn't even bring any of Meadow's toys along because I knew she wouldn't play with them.

Most of the day we prepped Christmas Eve dinner. First task was whipping together some rolls.

The girls got dressed up for Christmas.

Even baby Cameron was festive.

Newborns always scared me. I thought that would have changed after having Meadow, but seeing one again, nope.

I felt so certain holding Meadow, but I have to agree with Brooke. Now I know why my dad seemed hesitant to hold Meadow when she was a month old.

Grandma Tuska had a blast snapping pics of her grandbabies.

Simone found a new seat.

I love this little gal.

Ham, roasted brussels, homemade rolls and sweet potatoes. Oh and spinach and roasted beet salad.

Meadow's eating habits go in strange patterns. Last week she was on a hunger strike and this week she is eating everything. Well except for the sweet potatoes. She wouldn't eat those until her cousin started stealing them off her plate, then she realized they must be okay.

Simone pretty much only ate the sweet potatoes.

Cameron stuck to napping. No solids for a while.

After dinner the kids opened their gifts. We got Simone a pounding bench and Cameron a new book.

Meadow got some new clothes.

All the grandbabies got blankets and PJs from grandma and grandpa.

Meadow was all like, "Let me show you how this is done", while nearly missing Simone's fingers.

I can't wait until Cameron is running around.

We all had spiked egg nog after Simone went to bed. Well not mom. My dad went straight to bed after drinking his. The booze must've gotten to him.

Meadow's new word is "Ew". After Cameron spit up Meadow kept saying ew to him.

Sisters, a Brother and Walking Chicago

Summer always seems to mean one thing: weddings. Whether I'm shooting or attending, we're bound to end up at a few every year. This time around we were heading down to Chicago from my big sister Katrina's nuptials. I feel like all our vacations are centered around a wedding or something wedding related. I wish we could go on a vacation without having to worry about being somewhere. It also means a few repetitive trips down I-94. There aren't nearly enough unique stops off the interstate. One outlier is Foster Cheese Haus , the only organic Wisconsin cheese shop I know of. Run by the folks behind Castle Rock Organic Farms , we always try to stop by. Unfortunately for us they were closed on Wednesdays, but at least we got to spy on their darling garden out front. Brooke and I arrived in Necedah. We decided to stop at Brooke's sister Brittany's home along the way to cut the ride in half and get her dressed hemmed. ...

Dakotas Road Trip: Badlands and Black Hills

I thought we would skip Wall Drug this time since we've seen it before but Scott was gun ho on going. Come on. You can't go to the Badlands and skip the world's greatest tourist trap. First stop ice cream. We thought we would have lunch here but after seeing the prices decided we would cook something at the park instead. But first we had to take a couple tourist pics. When we we decided we were coming here I was expecting it to be 90's and hot. Did not think it would be rainy, chilly and foggy. I always make Brooke look cool. She on the other hand always finds a way to take a pic at the most awkward possible moment. Either that or I'm just really awkward. Earlier this year, I asked Theo where he wanted to go on vacations this year. He said he wanted to backpack camp at the Badlands because he was sad he didn't get to go yet. Japan Trip: Exploring Sangenjaya, Shibuya, Harajuku and Shinjuku in Tokyo

After a 12 hour flight and years of planning we finally made it to Japan. I'd been looking for a decent deal to Japan for ages. Tracking on Google Flights. Searching different points websites. Then finally a flight showed up on Points Yeah the same week Meadow and Theo were off for 3 days. After a nervous half hour of transferring points from our credit card to KLM Air France, we got 4 direct tickets to Tokyo Haneda! Day 1 But first we had to fly and fly and fly. Ready for our longest flight ever. At least we were lucky and got a direct flight. Theo looked nervous. I couldn't really see the kids too well since I was stuck in the center rows with strangers. Meadow, Brooke and Theo got the better end of the deal. He had been worrying about this trip ever since he learned we were going to have to sleep on the plane.
