1000 Islands And A Drive Home

What are the chances we have French toast two times in one week?

If we had bread in our house more often it would be a regular occurrence.

After breakfast Meadow was up to no good.

I was in the kitchen when I hear Meadow run in giggling. Then I see she has bows on her feet.

The weather was unusually warm and we were in no rush to get home. I suggested going for a walk at 1000 Islands.

The one in Kauakana, not in Canada.

It was the perfect opportunity to try out my new winter hiking shoes from Costco.

It felt more like Easter than Christmas.

I'm not sure if there are actually 1000 islands, but there were quite a few.

After checking the trail map we decided to keep going a few extra miles. Stay on the trail Meadow.

When in the Fox Valley you know a paper mill isn't far out of sight.

We had plans to check out the historical marker which only revealed that there was a road that the traders used to trade with the Natives across the river.

Meadow liked the lookout point better.

Mr. Mike's got a karate trophy on his dash.

When we got in the house we were surprised to see Morgan was over. Even though we hadn't seen her in almost two years it didn't seem that unusual to see her at my parents house.

I then drove home. We took Wisconsin 29 for the first time in forever. We saw a Mexican place. They had a buffet. Brooke ordered something off the menu and  I made the leap. Cross Mexican Buffet off my imaginary bucket list.

Meadow Goes Sledding At Minnehaha

Sometimes when Meadow wakes up in the morning she plays for awhile before calling us to come in. I heard her playing this morning and checked on the monitor that she was chewing on her blanket in her bed. Awhile later I checked again and she was on the floor in just her diaper. Her pajamas were several feet behind her. I'm not sure how she did it, but she's a regular Harry Houdini. At least she didn't take her diaper off. Before we went on an adventure I had a cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter. Brooke thought that was weird. Earlier this week Scott and I got hit with the stomach flu. Both of us hadn't been this sick in a very long time. Luckily Meadow stayed healthy. It was also very cold this week so we didn't really leave the house much. I thought that since it was warmer out we should go outside today I thought Minnehaha Park would be a fun place to take Meadow for some winter fun. Of course we brought Meadow's sled. ...

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

The Cape Cod of the Midwest

We talked Brittany into joining us for a road trip to Door County, WI. Scott had never been there before ( or so I believe) . Considering how short of a drive it is I'm surprised my family didn't go that often, either.
