Stillwater After A Day Shooting The Birthplace of Minnesota

Scott had a shoot in Stillwater and we decided to tag along. After walking along the river we stopped at Teddy Bear Park.  Then Scott met up with us at Valley Bookseller where they had every Waldo book imaginable.  We got a couple of snacks at Candyland before exploring downtown Stillwater.

Welcome Home, Pecan the Cat

Both kids said they wanted to make their own valentines this year. Meadow and I picked up some supplies and away they went. After Meadow successfully completed her "Don't-be-so-shy Cat Challenge" we finally adopted a new kitty, Pecan! Our first cat was named Peanut, so when our new little gal was named Pecan by the Rescue Crew , we had to keep the name. Petting her cat in her cat pajamas of course.

Forgetful Parents on a November Grocery Run

We planned on doing a bunch of errands today. So for breakfast we ate some caramel pumpkin kringle from Racine, Wisconsin's O&H Bakery. I totally forgot Trader Joe's had their kringle. I guess that place is good for something after all. The Minneapolis Farmers Market runs until the weekend before Thanksgiving. I thought we would check it out and stock up one last time. Turns out nobody is selling produce anymore. With the early snow and cold temps the season is over. I did manage to get some cider. Meadow has been a good helper lately. Brooke did a nice job livening up the stairway with more succulents after some herbs died. This kid was so cute in his one-piece snowsuit. He was probably disappointed he didn't get to show it off at the Minneapolis Farmers Market. I got sick of having to feed Theo while I'm trying to eat.  I dehydrated his baby food and cut them into strips so he can feed himself. This is so much easier and he ...

A Fall Garden Sunday (Damn you, Costco!)

Scott shot a wedding and was told I could come after he was done shooting. I put Meadow to bed and Emma came over so I could meet Scott. Let's just say I was pretty tired the next day. After the wedding we sort of celebrated our fifth anniversary by going over to our favorite bar, the Aster Cafe . Brooke drank too much. I made her a hangover cure breakfast: hash browns, eggs and bacon. Only I made twice as much hash browns than we needed. Earlier this week we went to Costco to get our tires rotated. We mentioned our air pressure signal kept going off. It turns out we had a nail in our side wall. I kind of figured there was a leak of some sort. They put our spare on and said they would call us when a new tire came in. That was Wednesday and today is Sunday. Our plans to go apple picking were shot down. I guess we did have some yard work to do. Digging up tulips turned into digging up a new side garden. Brooke loves adding gardens. I only help becaus...

On The Fourteenth Day Of Advent We Watched A Christmas Movie

For  a Christmas party gift my dad wanted to make a fake meth lab out of a camp cooking stove. I mentioned to him that on Breaking Bad the meth they use is actually candy.  I found a recipe online and made our own "meth." It turned out pretty great. It was basically rock candy.  We should have sold it to some unknowing middle schoolers. Afterward Blake suggested we watch  Christmas Vacation  and we all thought it was a great idea.

A Lovely Day

The time change didn't really affect me and I got up at my normal time. To Scott it meant sleeping in even later. While he was still asleep I worked on our meal planning and grocery list. Once I finally got up we were both ready to go grocery shopping. Brooke even had all the bags packed.   We tried to figure out somewhere to eat brunch. We had decided Bad Waitress when we remembered that the Lowry Cafe has breakfast and we hadn't been there in a long time. Brooke ordered the corned beef hash special. I got the mighty big Jordan breakfast. I was full for the rest of the day.  We mostly shop at the Seward Co-op even if it's halfway across town. Once the Lowry Bridge reopens we'll likely go to the Eastside Co-op more often. Via bike.  As always ,Brooke writes our dinner list on the chalkboard. According to Sprout Robot this week it's time to start tomato seeds. I like that their instructions come with little drawings. ...
