Blake's Annual Visit

The kids requested waffles, which meant that I was making my go to oatmeal whole wheat variety  using our Nordic Ware pans of course . A stack of library books means it's library day. Blake was in town for his annual Teamsters gathering. We had to take him to our new favorite buffet, Q.Cumbers . Salad buffet and Veganopolis. A match made in heaven.     Blake needed to get comfortable after filling his belly.   Blake's just a big kid when he's around Theo and Meadow. They adore him.

Birthday Ice Cream Pie, Pierogi Fish Fry and Other Stuff

For Brooke's actual birthday we got an ice cream pie from Milkjam. Not quite as good as Sebastian Joe's cakes, but still good. Oh, happy birthday, Killer Bee. You know we love a good lenten fish fry. The Ukranian American Community Center in Northeast Minneapolis does one with Pierogis as the side. Or are they main dish? Either way, pretty, pretty good. I had heard about this a couple years ago and had been wanting to try it.  The kids chickened out and got spaghetti.  They even had a band playing Ukranian folk music.

Our First Dakota County Fair, a Wirth House Tour and Morgan Stops in Mpls

We have always wanted to go to a county fair here in Minnesota. Usually we are gone during fair time, but this year lucked out and we were home during the  Dakota County Fair . Once and while Meadow and Theo play without Theo crying. This picture has nothing to do with this blog post, but it sure is cute. Buds. I like how the edge of the Twin Cities metro can be so country. Wonder Woman requested a pronto pup. She's officially a Minnesotan. They had the mini ferris wheel here! Theo was POed that he couldn't ride with Meadow. Meadow really wanted to go in a floating hamster ball.  Sadly it was not included with the ride tickets, but cost extra. Instead Meadow and I went a roller coaster together.  We took a break from rides and checked out the animal buildings. The fairgrounds also has a heritage village . The Dakota City Heritage Village, to be exact. We got to explore all the old buildings and homes...
