Last Minute Visitors

Scott was leaving yet again on another work trip. I asked my dad if he could come help me out. After the kids were out of school we thought we'd go bowling at Elsie's. We ended up in the only lane left which didn't have bumpers. Theo's ball kept getting stuck in the gutter which meant at his every turn an attendant would have to come retrieve it.

When a bumper lane opened up they moved us and gave us a free game. That was super nice of them even though it was our fault.

Theo usually requests waffles.

I guess we were on an old home tour run as of recently. We thought we would check out the Gibb's Farm in Falcon Heights.

Jane grew up near the famed Dakota Chief Cloud Man's Village. So the farm had both her farmstead and showed how the natives lived.

Everyone wanted their picture in front of the house.

Next we went over to Ax-Man's Surplus. My dad had been wanting to go and since we were nearby we stopped in. I had never been here before.

This place was like if Moiser's was run by punks. All the signage made me chuckle.

If you don't know Mosiers is an old sporting goods store in Redgranite, Wisconsin that just has random overstock for sale including fishing gear and toys.

If you ever need that one odd part, this place probably has it.

Half the store is "Grandpa stuff" as the kids called it.

Scott would be landing soon so Theo, dad and I watched for his plane to come in at the airplane viewing area.

Scotts flight kept circling around delaying his flight.

Still waiting.

"Hi Papa!"

Brittany, Jeff and Marina joined us which meant my dad had to move in with Theo.

Dad said he had wanted to go to the farmers market. And so we did.

Pecan was helping Meadow make cookies when we got home.

The girls got gifts from the farmers market.

Solar powered.

Scott and I ran some errands while they took the kids to the park. We met up with them afterwards.

I'm glad he's still into his mediating.

For dinner we had an outdoor cookout.

I'm pretty lucky to have these people in my life.

Scott had to travel again for work so Brittany and fam stuck around another night.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Gardening Mama (or How to Hang Out with High School Friends)

Some of Scott's friends from high school that he hasn't seen in like 7 years were stopping by later to see our house. We quickly cleaned up the place, breaking one of our favorite mugs on the way.

A Northwoods Mother's Day

My mom had texted me last week asking if we wanted to go to the cottage for Mother's Day. Scott didn't have any work on Monday so we headed there for the weekend. I was able to get off work a little early so we didn't have to get there so late.  Driving through Lindstrom Scott wanted to get donuts at the bakery. We didn't have any cash so we settled on ice cream at the Cotton Candy Ice Cream Shop  in Center City. About 20 minutes before we got to the cottage Meadow threw up all her milk. Soaking herself and her carseat. She never threw up like this before. It was kind of scary. She kept asking for milk. I guess I should've known better.
