Duluth Easter 2025

After missing last year we were back in Duluth for Easter 2025. Friday night means Friday night fish fry at The Shack.

I always get something else when we come here and then look longingly at Brooke, Blake and Daniel's fish fry.

The kids and I all got burgers.

While these jokesters played, Daniel and I went to an improv show at the Zeitgeist, which I failed to take photos of.

The rest of us were not feeling it. Plus somebody had to watch the kiddos.

Blake has a foot massager. I thought I would try it out. I did not like it.

Machines: 0
Scottie: 1

Blake made us French Toast for breakfast.

Part of our science museum membership includes admission to the Duluth Children's Museum.

Well, it lets us into hundreds of science museums. We've been to a handful or two this year.

I hadn't been here since Meadow was really little. It was nothing like the old one. Everything was just on one floor. Also my kids might be getting too old for these museums. Or this one seemed more geared towards toddlers.

We still had fun.

I think the actual Minnesota Children's Museum would still be fun, but we made due.

After Blake did his Easter errands we met up for lunch at Northern Waters Smokehaus.

For years I thought it was just a smoked fish joint. Look what I've been missing out on.

I wanted to come to Canal Park to pick up a mother's day gift for my mom. A couple summers ago I noticed they had hummingbird feeders at the Lake Superior Art Glass store.

Afterwards we decided to play bocce in Blake's old neighborhood.

I thought the kids would love this game. Well Meadow played, Theo wouldn't dare try.

He hates competition.

I needed a couple things for my Easter dessert. We stopped at Kwik Trip where Scott picked up ice cream. The ice cream was then demolished once we got back to Blake's.

I was trying to save money. Should've bought two gallons.

Me, Blake and the kids dyed Easter eggs with a natural dye kit that I've been hanging onto for years.

So nature like.

Do you know that Brooke's family just leaves these out for weeks after Easter at room temp. Yeah, don't do that.

Good morning, time to find your Easter baskets.

I hope the Easter bunny didn't go down there.

Theo was mad I suggested he go down there. Ha.

The under-stairs closet seems like a better hiding spot.

He was pretty excited to get a Link action figure.

Meadow got some new headphones.

Time for the egg hunt in Blake's leftover Boubville backyard.

Meadow's Easter outfit was so epic.

What a stylish kid.

This year I made some brownies with Easter candy.

Blake's house looking spiffy.

Snacks before dinner in the Lungwitz-family fashion.

Always good to see Jasper and Blake's other friends.

IDK. Some weird easter YouTube music mixes with questionable illustrations were played in the background.

Time for dinner.

Wish we could stay but we had to drive back to Minneapolis.

Chicago Chrismukkah + Michigander Xmas

Before heading out on our trip we let the kids open their Christmas gifts from us. A knitted sweater for Theo and a kitty dress for Meadow (I fixed the straps for her) both made by me. I wanna a sweater. Scott got them new compact sleeping bags. We all got smaller sleeping bags this year and we'll now have a lot more room in our car. This year we had talked about hosting my family at the cottage. Then meeting up in Milwaukee, then meeting in Chicago. But in the end we made stops in Chicago and Lowell this Christmas. We left on a Sunday which was nice to have a few days to prepare. On the way down to Chicago we stopped at our favorite roadside restaurant, Foster Cheese Haus. We had plans to break up our drives so we didn't have to rush like we normally do. We had made it just before the cheese haus was set to close for the winter. Just not enough folks stop here in winter and snowmobile season is becoming shorter and shorter this far so...

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Biking to Doors Open Minneapolis 2025

This weekend was Doors Open. We had missed the last couple years so I had a big list of places to see. I thought we'd drive to get to more places quickly, but Scott insisted we bike as it was easier to park.  Theo and I were ready to take some pics. We started out at the Rand Tower. My personal favorite Minneapolis skyscraper. Next we got to see inside a manhole. They had robots patrolling the sewer and a live video feed on a TV.  Then we walked over to the Dayton's Project. I really wish their food hall idea would have followed through, it's sad to see it so empty.  It's still mostly empty and I'm not sure if they know what to do with the space. We got to go in the nooks and crannies of the old JB Hudsons space, like this the old window display. There was lounge or bar that was opening soon to the public.
