A Battery Dies Every Winter

Another Sunday morning early alarm courtesy of Little Bear Tuska.

As in early Valentine's gift Scott got me a new greenhouse. The one we had before was only two shelves and the cover was ripped. This new one isn't as good of quality, but having the tight cover really helps keep heat in that I don't even need to use the seed warmer pad. 

I got a little excited and pretty much started everything by seed.

It's going to be the best garden ever. I want to start some flowers soon.

We couldn't decide on what to eat for breakfast, so we lounged around.

We haven't had big pancakes in awhile.

I need new glasses that don't slip off my face. I also just need new glasses.

It's so great having family breakfasts together. 

On Friday night Scott had some friends over. I put Meadow to bed and did some work in the office. A while later I smelled something burning. I didn't think anything of it because I knew they were downstairs. The smell didn't go away and then I realized what it was. They had started a fire in the fireplace. 

It was rather successful, but we did get soot on the fireplace doors.

Thyme was my first plant to sprout. 

Scott left to photograph some neighborhoods (or so I thought). So, Meadow and I played in her room.

For lunch I had leftover pork schnitzel and spaetzle.

Meanwhile I hadn't left yet since the car battery was dead.

Meadow sat with me at lunch. 

My neighbors jumped the battery and I went to Fleet Farm to get a battery. They didn't have it, so I checked Batteries Plus and Menards. No luck.

While Meadow napped I worked on a project for work.

I wasn't sure if I was going to find a new one. 

I decided to search the web for the closest and cheapest battery. Napa up the road in Osseo had it.

The Honda Insight's starter battery is the size of a riding lawnmower battery since it's got a huge one under the seats.

When I got home I had my neighbor Will help me change out the battery since he's a mechanic. There was a depleted cell after all. I guess it was to be expected after four and a half years.

He showed me that this was a good battery.

You might not be able to tell, but we were freezing our asses off.


It didn't take too long. Now I can actually can go on my shoot.

While out I picked up a downspout extender for all of the gutters. Now we don't get ice building up near our garage door.

I really didn't want to cook, but I threw together tuna melts and the canned soup we got from my mom.

It wasn't half bad for a last minute meal.

Somehow I did dishes too while Brooke watched Downton Abbey. Real fair...

Day 1  Back in May I stumbled upon Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I had no idea there was a National Park in North Dakota and that it was the northern end of the Badlands. Usually our summer vacations coincide with Scott's work trips. Since he didn't have any this summer I thought we should take advantage of actually taking a vacation. An Ice Skating Birthday Party for Theo

Since Scott was still not feeling great on his actual birthday. We postponed Theo's birthdays wishes a few days. Since seeing the commercials for Burger King, he has been begging to go so he could get the $7 deal.  That's the $5 Duo and $7 Trio, Brooke. I have to say it wasn't as good as I remember. Dont know the last time I ate BK. We picked this BK for the playground. Theo's other wish was to go the Dog Man movie. We tried out the Emagine theater in Eagan.  Got the whole theater to ourselves and didn't have to rent it out this time.  I swear, it was a good time. For his birthday party this year, we finally settled on having an ice skating party at our house. We had lucked out with the weather. Today was the last cold day before a big warm up.  Meadow and I barely decorated. As soon as his friends arrived we opened gifts right away. We used to wait to open gifts after the party, but I guess kids get really excited to see their friends open their gifts from them....

The Road back from the Valley

On Sunday morning we had to head back, so Brooke made the bed. We packed up early to make a few stops before heading home. After these photos were taken my mom complained we take too many "dumb" pictures. I think she was saying this to me. I like to document every minute detail of our days (or weddings ). She complained about the same thing earlier this year. Gail didn't want me to shoot her other daughters wedding. Ouch! I had oatmeal for breakfast (bet you didn't see that coming). I drank a Moutain Dew as we left Little Chute . Not exactly the most nutritious breakfast, but I feel like I have to drink soda when we're back home. It's not allowed in the Romenesko-Tuska household. We dropped off Brittany on the way and headed to Redgranite. I made sure we stopped at Mosier's first. Whenever I would visit my grandparents my Grandma would buy me a toy from here. I usually picked out giant coloring books.   This time...
