On the eighth day of Advent we hung with childhood friends and made a Christmas card

Despite the snow and cold we were meeting up with some of Scott's old friends for breakfast.

Meadow decided to wear her hand-me-down dress from Marina one last time.

They let us pick the place and we settled on Victor's 1959

It was really cold out, but Meadow didn't seem to mind.

I wish we came here more often. We actually put in offer in on a house in Kingfield, but it was scooped up by a cash buyer.

Krystal was excited to see and hold Meadow.

It was great seeing Jeremy and Krystal. Hopefully he gets his medical residency here.

She started to get grumpy and was handed back to me.

I guess we were all excited to eat we didn't take any photos of our food.

It wasn't pretty, but you can't go wrong with Cuban breakfast food.

We had changed our minds for our Christmas card photo last minute. We decided to just have it be Meadow with a snowman, but the snow wasn't packable for making a snowman.

This was the runner-up for our Christmas card photo.

Meadow is getting this sled for Christmas. We needed to use it to have her sit in something.

I wasn't going to have her sit in single digit snow.

I was excited to have her try it. Then I convinced her it was all a dream and the sled didn't exist.

For the next hour or so I turned this photo into a card.

I think it turned out pretty good. It was a big hit with the family.

I had plans to meet up with an old high school friend and left Meadow to have a Daddy/Daughter day.

We had a good time playing in her room.

I made tacos and ate a slice of pizza for lunch.

Cevonne and I were meeting with our friend Sarah at her house. I got lost on the way and Cevonne got stuck in the snow.

Meadow is starting to like her jumper.

I bombarded them with the camera as soon as we arrived.

I taught you well, my lovely wife.

Meanwhile Meadow fell asleep on my lap while I worked on editing photos. Again.

The only time I get baby free time is during work. I was excited to have adult conversations and drink wine.

Apparently Meadow and Brooke had a read-a-thon the night before.

Later on I ate more pizza for dinner and we watched our favorite show Bob's Burgers.

I had told Scott we were just going to hang out and that I would probably only be there for a few hours. We ended up talking and talking, catching up on years past. We have plans to get together again soon and I can't wait.

When Brooke arrived home Meadow was back in her jumper. I swear she loves it.

Meadow has been leaking in her diapers at night lately. Doesn't matter if they are cloth or disposable. I have to admit we are both too tired/lazy to change her diaper at night. Sorry Meadow.

She's been going through her pajamas like crazy. I dug into a few sizes ahead and found this great number.

Cute.

I taught you well my lovely wife – oh Scott. Ha, ha.
How did Cevonne get stuck in the snow? Is that at her house?

Nice post. I'm glad I get email updates now...did I not before? How do I know if you respond to my comments?

Pampers and Huggies make a "sure-dry" diaper that's intended for nighttime. That's what we use on Nolan - and no leaks! Plus he has really sensitive skin so it helps soak everything up so he doesn't get rashes.

Chicago Chrismukkah + Michigander Xmas

Before heading out on our trip we let the kids open their Christmas gifts from us. A knitted sweater for Theo and a kitty dress for Meadow (I fixed the straps for her) both made by me. I wanna a sweater. Scott got them new compact sleeping bags. We all got smaller sleeping bags this year and we'll now have a lot more room in our car. This year we had talked about hosting my family at the cottage. Then meeting up in Milwaukee, then meeting in Chicago. But in the end we made stops in Chicago and Lowell this Christmas. We left on a Sunday which was nice to have a few days to prepare. On the way down to Chicago we stopped at our favorite roadside restaurant, Foster Cheese Haus. We had plans to break up our drives so we didn't have to rush like we normally do. We had made it just before the cheese haus was set to close for the winter. Just not enough folks stop here in winter and snowmobile season is becoming shorter and shorter this far so...

A 50s Era Map Guides Us on a Twin Cities Day Trip in the Fiala's Giant SUV

Another week and another house full of crazy Fiala kids. One day June asked if he could have a half-sandwich/half-bagel. We obliged.

Third Annual Torres-Tuska Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza (Plus Harvest Garden Cleanup)

The first frost was finally coming. It was time to clean out the garden and harvest what was remaining. Here's are first success at celery.  Our best garden yet. Next year we have a new plan on where to plant things since most plants die from being crowded by others.  They were crowded because someone didn't read the many rules of square-foot gardening. Planting four brussels sprouts next to one another is not the way to do it. Anyways...a few days later... We still haven't turned on our heat. I thought using the oven today would be a good idea. I made big pancake for breakfast and Scott says, "I'm getting sick of big pancake." How can you get sick of big pancake? It's really tasty and all, but there some many other options. Meadow watched from below.  And above.  She's really getting interested in food. A few more months little bear. Meadow has been very grabby lately. Especially during feedings. T...
