Married with Child

I never would have guessed that two years ago today we would already have a child.

Life.

Morning snuggles with my babe.

Our wedding breakfast tradition is crepes.

We stayed at the Westin in downtown on our wedding night thanks to my sister and her now husband. The next morning I brought back some La Belle Crepe for us to nosh on.

I've really been in to making crepes for a few years now. It's much easier than pancakes and what I grew up on.  I can't say we made maple caramel apple filling.

One egg to one cup flour to one cup milk. Much easier than pie.

Our new favorite drink is chai latte. I made some to go with our breakfast.

Meadow kept watch on us.

Last year we didn't "do gifts" except I ended up getting Scott a crepe pan. This year he got me an inflatable mattress for backpack camping. I wasn't expecting such a pricey gift.

It will totally be worth it. Now I just need one.

I got him ove gloves. I was going to put it in his stocking, but then I remembered he doesn't get that anymore now that we have Meadow.

What a jip.

Scott cored too many apples for the crepes so I made apple chips with it.

Scott had work to do so Meadow and I hung out in her new room.

All she needs is a bed and blinds. She still sleeps in her bassinet in our room.

I always encourage play time on the floor. She has recently loved watching herself eat her hands in her mirror.

Brooke moved my mothers sun painting into her room.

Here's one of the knobs I picked out at our recent trip to Hobby Lobby. They didn't have enough of these so I picked out some orange ones for the bottom drawers.

Good choice.

I left Meadow playing by her mirror and went to go brush my hair. When I came back she had rolled onto her stomach for the first time!

Peanut and I wanted to see her do it again.

I go and edit photos in my nearby office and I miss this precious moment.

Of course she wouldn't.

I saw that Donna had put bells on Penelope's socks one day so I thought I would try this on Meadow. She loved it and was entertained for a long time.

Always feeding the little bear.

Or doing laundry or cleaning the house. Brooke lives by the adage that a clean house is a happy house.

We watched a little a bit of Spring Breakers before heading out for the night.

We dropped off Meadow at Tyler, Emma, Olive and Emma's yet-to-be-born baby's house on our way out.

Olive is always excited to see Meadow.

Then it was time for us to go out alone together since baby.

Even though I go out and work in the field a lot, this was weird.

We had debated all month about where to go to eat. I wanted somewhere that I could have a drink or two. Scott suggested World Street Kitchen. It wasn't until we got there that we realized how informal the place was. We stuck around anyway and got talked into a pitcher of beer.

I can't remember if we got a pitcher of Fulton or Indeed. Seems like a new brewery opens every five minutes.

I got the MFC or Moroccan Fried Chicken. This was great, especially the biscuit bun.

It was nice to be able to eat slowly and talk without a screaming baby. Although she would have liked this place. It was noisy and had lots of lights.

After a few more brewskis we realized that we're now lightweights.

After hanging out for awhile we decided to go get ice cream.

Instead of the usual Sebastian Joe's we went to the new Izzy's location by the Guthrie in downtown. When we got there Scott complained out loud about how the prices were too high.

Then I got this humungous waffle cone and I stopped complaining.

Next summer they have plans to open the for rooftop seating.

It was kind of like old times where we could go out and have no worries.

Then it was back to baby time.

I guess this whole parenthood thing isn't a bad deal.

What a nice anniversary for you two. That must have been a fun date, but weird without Meadow.

Stillwater Waterfall and MN River Valley Hiking

Scott had to take some sunset photos in Stillwater.  A fall color aerial 360. I hadn't been there in awhile so we tagged along. We left as soon as Meadow was done for school and headed for the St Croix Boom Site. I had heard there was a hidden waterfall and wanted to check it out. There's not a specific trail to it. From what I read you go down the stairs and take a left following the river.  I think it's an old state trail that isn't maintained and has way too much graffiti.

A Few Thoughts to Pass the Time

I'm sitting at the library, my new hang out besides random coffee shops. Class isn't for another 2 hours and I've finished all my homework. There's a guy running across holding his pants up and rush hour is just setting in. I never realized how weird Minnesotians actually are until I saw American Idol last night. They were doing auditions in Minneapolis, which Randy liked to call Minnehopeless. I thought it was just the culinary students that we're weird at my school, but no it's the whole state. The majority of the people that I know here are not actually from Minnesota, only one that truely is seems ok to me. Maybe I'm just like them but I don't want to admit it. School is alright. It keeps me busy. I like that some classes only have 10 students. Everyone in my Nutrition class eats healthy and reads the ingredient list but me. At least I get to take home everything I make in my baking class. Summer seems so far away. I need to find a place to live befo...

Sushi Sunday Returns

Today I woke up before Scott and surprised him by making big pancakes. I was so excited, but I had to take a quick shower first. He didn't know I was making breakfast and woke up too late. He had to scarf it down before heading to work. I'm not going to complain that Scott had to work on a Sunday again. Yea it sucks, but I need to be more thankful that he has a job. It may not be the best he's had or the worst and the pay isn't phenomenal, but life isn't always fair. Instead of dwelling on the things I don't like I need to be more happy about the things in life that are great.  After he left I spent time on-and-off working on this puzzle. It's a lot easier to see the many colors when the suns out. I think I found about 3 more pieces.  Then I ordered more seeds online . Last year we figured we had enough, but then we realized we really want to grow kale and chard and popcorn. I know it's a little early to be getting excited abo...
