We got up late and decided to go to Manhattan.

We do a lot of walking around

Dan is practicing for New Years.

Dan took us out for lunch with his gift card for some Chicago style pizza. We ate like kings.

We walked through Central Park.

There were some great photo opps.

I'm not sure what this place was for but it was pretty.

There's an ice skating rink in the middle that we're going to check out before we leave.

Some people here dress pretty crazy.

We were going to go to the art museum but the line was a mile long so we walked around instead.

Christmas time is pretty.

Saks 5th Avenue is pretty outside

and inside

I got new shoes at a vintage store yesterday

The biggest Catholic church in the US

Grand Central Station had a light show while we were there

We saw some interesting magazines at the news stand.

Mmmm street vendor pretzels

There was another ice skating rink in Bryant park

We found Time square. It wasn't hard to miss.

We stopped in the Marriot for a drink.

I had to get a cosmo of course. I find that I don't get carded here often. Nice.

The view was great.

Eureka! It's Thanksgiving!

For the first time in 2 years we were able to head home for Thanksgiving. I am so thankful this year that Scott isn't working retail. Especially with how ridiculously early stores are opening.  I'm thankful I'm working for myself . Luckily I had Wednesday off and Scott, well, he can have off whenever he wants. We made it out of the city with no traffic and came home in time for dinner.  I made that cake like 5 years ago in school (don't worry just the outside is real). I'm surprised my parents have still kept it even though its changing colors and covered in dust. Everytime we go to my parents house Scott always has to poke fun of my senior pictures. He's just jealous he didn't get to sit on a swing.  My mom had just gotten the upgraded version of Scott's phone. She had no idea how to use it, so Scott had to show her how. For the rest of the weekend I played the part of Geek Squad agent. Better than actually working at BBY.

Thanksgiving in the Valley

Thursday This year Brittany hosted Thanksgiving at her new house. We debated between going to Grand Rapids, Michigan (where my sister and mom live) and going to Little Chute (most of Brooke's family). With Grand Rapids being a 9 hour drive (no stopping), we opted for the 4 hour drive to her family. While getting ready for Thanksgiving I found these 30 plus year old German wines sitting in the garage. I guess they'd been sitting in Grandma Lungwitz's basement since then. We uncorked one of them for the night. I was all for it until my dad opened one and when I mentioned where it came from he made a face and exclaimed he would not drink it. My contribution for Thanksgiving this year was pumpkin shaped rolls. For the first time in 33 years we actually get to sit with the adults and the cousins were at the kids table. They were happy to have their own table. To our surprise Brooke's cousin Hayden showed up too. We always have a

Thanksgiving in Chicago with (Almost) the Whole Tuska Clan

Thursday After work on Wednesday we drove down to stay the night at Scott's parents house. When we arrived we learned the air mattress was already at Colin's place. Luckily we brought Meadow's travel toddler bed. Unfortunately that bed no longer stays inflated. We woke up, ate breakfast and drove the final 90 minutes to Chicago. For some reason I got the address wrong by a block. I stepped up to this modern home and thought aloud, "This can't be right." It turns out it was one more block to the east. When we arrived Meadow said, "We're here already?!" I guess she's not used to short drives. Then we found the right place. The story with their apartment is that the building was a single family home that started on fire. The inside was gutted after the fire and split into two units. Thank you Chicago for saving the building. While the food was being prepped we ate fancy meats and cheeses. My brother Colin was har
