Dec 28 2007

We got up late and decided to go to Manhattan.

We do a lot of walking around

Dan is practicing for New Years.

Dan took us out for lunch with his gift card for some Chicago style pizza. We ate like kings.

We walked through Central Park.

There were some great photo opps.

I'm not sure what this place was for but it was pretty.

There's an ice skating rink in the middle that we're going to check out before we leave.

Some people here dress pretty crazy.

We were going to go to the art museum but the line was a mile long so we walked around instead.

Christmas time is pretty.

Saks 5th Avenue is pretty outside

and inside

I got new shoes at a vintage store yesterday

The biggest Catholic church in the US

Grand Central Station had a light show while we were there

We saw some interesting magazines at the news stand.

Mmmm street vendor pretzels

There was another ice skating rink in Bryant park

We found Time square. It wasn't hard to miss.

We stopped in the Marriot for a drink.

I had to get a cosmo of course. I find that I don't get carded here often. Nice.

The view was great.

Bu Bye Chicago, Hello Milwaukee

The morning after the wedding we had leftover bagels for breakfast.
...and Brooke looked out the window.
Haha that's not me, that's Emma. See what I mean? My own husband can't tell the difference.
By the way did you know we had roommates in our hotel room?
I also ate leftover pie from the wedding.

Despite having to be quiet at night we enjoyed sharing our room with Tyler, Emma and Olive. It was kind of like a big sleepover.
Then we had to check out and head to Pilsen for lunch.
Tyler had been talking up Nuevo Leone for a while now, so we skipped Burrito House this time.

Next time it's a must. That's two times in a row that I didn't go to Burrito House.
Pilsen is one my favorite Chicago neighborhoods, so I was easily cajoled.
I'm not exactly sure how they do their laundry with the machine facing the window.

Tyler, Emma and Olive got lost or something, so we walked around for a bit.
Brooke really wanted to eat this hot dog, but I said "No, it's a paint…

Honeymoon: Madeline Island Without a Kayak? At Least We Brought Bikes.

We made it safely to Bayfield without getting attacked by any bears.

I think that's because of my wily driving skills.

Katrina and Dennis's Big Day!

I don't shoot nearly enough weddings. I'm just not good at the whole marketing aspect. The one's I end up photographing are, like this one, family or through the grapevine.
This time around I'm shooting my big (little) sister's wedding to Dennis, a man I respect immensely. I got to hang out with him a few times in Chicago and then a whole week in San Jose. I really looked forward to the bachelor party with the guys and wasn't disappointed.
While the women got ready and after I helped setup the venue I came back to hang with the dudes and ostensibly get dressed. As you can see above we drank some beer and booze and shot the shit.

My big brother, Colin, was the officiant and was really excited for his parking pass that was included with his ordination packet.
All the women involved in the wedding gathered into Katie's room to get our hair done. Olive was just there to entertain us.

And the bride is ready.
At some point we had to take taxis the mile or so up Wab…
