I Love Vistors

I've had a pretty eventful week with vistors and traveling. It started with my parents and little brother driving out west (to my dad I live far away) to come visit me. It was my mom and brothers first time being in the cities and they seemed to like it. I basically dragged them along to do all the things I've always wanted to do.

I then went down to Milwaukee for my last time this summer and probably for awhile. As I say this I know I'll probably be back in 2 weeks because that seems to be the pattern this summer. Scott is moving back up here next week so maybe I won't. I've been to Milwaukee more times than I have been home. I enjoyed that city and all its frozen custard, hopefully I'll make it back down there soon. But finally after 6 months we won't have to drive 2-5 hours just to see each other for only a few days. Now I'll be able to see him whenever I want.

I then drove back up to Little Chute for the day. It wasn't as exciting as it usually is, mostly because I had a bunch of things I needed to get done so I didn't get to see very many people. Especially my childhood friend Keely who I haven't seen in a year. Maybe next time, which I'm not sure when that will be either. I did get to have sno-biz which I had been wanting to do all summer so I was happy for that.

Cevonne came back up to Minnesota with me, having her here is always a blast. Even though we do the same things we did at home. I'm sure we'll do something spontaneous.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Little Bohemia Lodge and Labor Day at the Three Lakes Cottage: 2025 Edition

We happened to be driving through Manitowish Waters so figured this was finally my chance to go to Little Bohemia Lodge . Brooke's wanted to go here forever. So why not? Even if you arrive when the restaurant opens, expect to wait. Better yet, make a reservation if you plan on going. Rookie mistake on our part. But I guess it could be worse than hanging at their old school bar with some brewskis and Shirley Temples. There seemed to be a lot of open tables. Sounded like they were understaffed.  Most had went back to school for the season. I did not expect the famed bullet holes to be right next to the tables. There were holes everywhere.

Errands and Painting the Garage Before Winter

Meadow and I had a million errands to run on this day. Scott needed trim paint for the garage. Good thing we get the contractor discount at Sherwin Williams. Cause they're super expensive. But are their paints really that much better?    Meadow looked at coats at Goodwill. She didn't like that the sleeves were short on this coat. Agreed.    I love that Goodwill has EV chargers. It seems that no one knows that they are there. We stopped at REI and I liked this 20 degree bag. I don't believe the temperature ratings on these. This is probably good to 40 or 30 degrees. AKA Brooke has major blood circulation issues.   Theo spent the morning playing the Switch, of course. Once he was done gaming, Theo joined us in helping to paint the garage. Scott had all the green done so it was my turn to paint the trim. Don't let them fool you. I painted the rest of the trim. But I suppose the one day they helped sped things up a bit. Break for lunch. The rest of the garage t...
