Pancakes and Pizza

I made cake for a work event on Friday. The first thing Meadow asks for in the morning is cake. I can't say no to that. You can't say no? Ha. Okay it was a tiny piece. Meadow said, "I'm cold, I want to snuggle with Papa." And she did that. Cute kid. Meanwhile I needed to grind some flour to make our pancakes. I kept on wondering where breakfast was. Then I figured she was making those pancakes. You know those . Meadow loves to help me unload the dishwasher. Next day I noticed her work. Breakfast is weird if you really think about it. Meadow got new glasses this week. She has a size bigger and her prescription has weakened slightly. I think it's the opposite. Good parents, hey? After a few weeks of our schedules not working out we finally had invited Anna and Aaron over for a playdate. I pulled out a bunch of Meadow's toys for the kids to play with. She was excited to have all of her toys out. I...

Too Cold Sunday, A Perfect Weekday

Today was a eat-what-you-want for breakfast day. Meadow chose cereal. I had a leftover pancake and egg sandwich. I was still sleeping.  Both Scott and I caught whatever illness Meadow had the weekend before. I recovered after a couple days, but Scott got hit harder than me. He rested long after we were done with breakfast. Threw up, fever, sore throat and now I had some weird rashes on my hands. Weird week. Today's high was supposed to be around -15. With Scott not feeling well and the cold temps we really had no plans for the day. Meadow helped me un-decorate the tree. Once Scott feels better we will take it out. Since this tree has gotten so dry pine needles were everywhere. Meadow "helped" me sweep. Every year, after the Christmas decorations are put away, I go through and reorganize our storage closets. Meadow's too big and too small clothing had gotten out of control. I reorganized all her clothing by size and lab...

2015 Year In Review

2015 was a really great year. I feel like we had so much fun and went on a lot of adventures. As Meadow gets older it makes life more entertaining. Here our some of favorites from the year. January--Celebrated Scott's 29th Birthday at the cottage I think this will have to become a tradition. Birthday parties aren't really my thing. I'd rather just relax... February--We had heart shaped food and Valentine's dinner with friends. We haven't had enough dinners with the Fialas. We've been slacking. March--Spent my 30th Birthday at a folk dance party in Duluth and camping at Savanah Portage State Park. Bluegrass and snowshoeing made this another great long weekend. April--Visiting Fargo for the first time. I had a Street View Trusted gig up there. These were the final gigs I had with Rasmussen College. I need to find another traveling job asap. May--Smelt Run in Duluth This was even more bonkers than the Day of the Dead c...

Random Acts of January

On Saturday Meadow suggested a trip to the library. I can't say no to that. I don't know if she loves the library because of the books or the toys. Hello old house. Good to see it still standing. After the library we went to the St. Paul's Midway neighborhood to pick out Meadow's new glasses. After our drive home from Pearle Vision Meadow fell asleep in the car. When we got home Scott brought her upstairs to go back to sleep. Normally this never works, but it worked today. She had been sleeping for 2.5 hours when I went to go wake her up.  Usually she is really crabby if I have to wake her up, but this time she just seemed really tired and felt warm. I checked her temperature and she had her first fever. By the next morning she was feeling a lot better. On Sunday, Meadow and Scott read all her new books. She was also well enough to climb on buffets. Just so you know a learning tower is a blessing and curse. Your kid will...
