Bocce and Yardwork

My new thing this year has been taking a walk as soon as I wake up. Most people including the dog walkers aren't out yet. And I don't have to worry the rest of the day if I'll get my steps in.

Somehow I did not know. Ha. Well, probably cause I was sleeping.

Theo is invited to a birthday party next week so we went to our favorite toy store, Pinwheel, to find a gift.

We got a gift and the kids split their money to buy a butter shaped squishy.

Since we were going to Linden Hills, I brought along our bocce ball set to play at the Linden Hills Park.

We've played in our backyard, but because our yard is lumpy we sometimes lose pallino in the grass.

Probably my last porch lunch of 2025.

I needed to clean up all the leaves in the yard and convinced the kids to join me if I made them a big leaf pile.

I thought I'd just add all the leaves to our compost bins but they filled up pretty quickly. I ended up having to run to the hardware store to get yard bags.

I then met up with friends for dinner at French Meadow.

Back from Boston, I decided that I'd take the kids to Hibachi Buffet over on Lake Street in our neighborhood. The kids didn't' tell me they weren't particuarly hungry. Ah, well.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Work Trip: Flushing Queens, Chinatown and Buffalo Briefly

Well, you didn't think I was done traveling for work, did you? I swear I had a shoot in rural in Bradford, PA. But you'll never know it. I got there late and had to leave straight for Buffalo to fly out to NYC for a shoot on Long Island. I did manage to briefly stop in Western New York State's Ellicottvile. I managed to get back to Buffalo with just enought time to stop for a Beef on Weck at Charlie the Butcher's Kitchen . While I quite liked Baltimore Pit Beef, I think Beef on Weck is even better. An unsung American sandwich hero. It's really about that bun. A cross between a kaiser roll and pretzel bun. Amazing stuff.

The Biggest Maple Tree in Minnesota

On the night before St Patricks Day, Meadow made a leprechaun trap.  Maybe next year Meadow.   Meadow was having a rough morning and needed a hug.  She wanted to play Zelda all day long. The rest of us wanted to go on a hike. We spend so much time getting these kids to get outside and once they are outside they don't want to come back in. Scott chose this weeks hike based off his current love of old growth forests. Wolsfeld Woods SNA just west of the cities in Medina. It's home to the tallest sugar maple in the state.
