Grandparents Visit While Scott Travels

While Scott was on yet another work trip, the kids and I took advantage of the last days of Bread and Pickle being open.

Biking with Theo can sometimes be very frustrating. He likes to yell and give up easily.

Pecan has recently discovered that we store her food in the back staircase. When we're not looking she sneaks out when you open the door and gets into her food.

The rare times Meadow and Theo play together.

Theo's new favorite breakfast is smiley breakfast. A bagel with cream cheese and a cheese omelet.

My parents were coming to help out this week with Scott being gone. I tidied up the living room.

The kids have also been willingly going outside to play lately. Mostly to have pillow fights.

My mom loved going to the Jack O' Lantern Spectacular at the Minnesota Zoo a few years ago and asked to go again.

They had a new layout this time which seemed to help with some of the overcrowding.

They had a Saja Boys song playing and all the kids in the crowd were singing along.

My parents lucked out with good weather to have dinner on the porch.

Theo used Meadow's music stand to hold his cards for Kings Corner.

The kids did really well at their school conferences so they got more ice cream at Sebastian Joe's.

The kids were off school the rest of the week while I was at work. My parents took them out to Victor's for breakfast.

I didn't have any more meals planned for the week so we went out for dinner at Pizza Luce.

Six Months, More Like Six Years

Approaching the 11th hour of this Sunday we finally rolled out of bed. Brooke and I made a night out of our six month since being married. In a way we could be celebrating six plus years together. I met the little lady above in February 2006. Now we garden together. We had a lovely night indeed: dinner at Red Stag and drinks at Aster Cafe.  I went outside to show Brooke where our new boulevard tree was going to be planted. We found a love letter in our bushes. Brooke couldn't read it, so we let it dry on one of the radiators.  The first page was mostly apologizing for not writing and then the second page turned sour with lots of swear words.  We drove downtown to eat brunch. We parked across from this rare small pre-1950s building that has somehow survived in downtown Minneapolis's ongoing urban renewal. We decided to eat at La Belle Crepe since I picked up this for our post-wedding breakfast back on that October day. This creperie is...

Honeymoon: Locks, Falls and a Damn Ankle

Once we decided to exit stage Mackinac, we had to decide what to do asap.

G.G 70th Birthday Twin Cities Adventures

Originally Scott was supposed to be gone this week on a work trip. I had asked my parents if they could come to help with the kids while I was at work.  Unfortunately  I wasn't going down to shoot one of the big boat shows in Florida. On the plus side we'd get to spend time with G.G. on her 70th birthday weekend. With the trip cancelled I asked if they still wanted to come. Before they arrived Meadow made neopolitan cookies.  These were some of the best cookies we've ever made. Thanks, Meadow's cookie cookbook. The next morning Theo asked grandpa if they could snuggle together. I had plans to take my parents to a pizza farm. Since the drive was an hour away we tried to find things to do in the area. We picked up some food for a picnic and hiked at Rice Lake State Park.  I feel like this is the second time I've had a job and Brooke's taken the kids to this state park.   True story. Most of the leaves are gone near the Twin Cities, but not down here.    ...
