Marina Turns 12, the Whole Farber Clan Visits

Marina wanted to come to Minneapolis for her birthday again.

This weekend was all about her. One of Marina's requests was to go to the fabric store. We need some new napkins so I thought I would look for fabric too. We hit up our favorite fabric warehouse, SR Harris.

SR Harris didn't have anything we wanted so we checked out one of the going-out-of-business Joann Fabrics. They had a 2 yard minimum, guess I'll be making lots of napkins.

While the ladies went and had fun, I took apart the boards to the ice rink. Another year of backyard ice skating in the books.

Marina had some birthday money to spend on items for her bedroom. Ikea it is. My kids love Ikea. This kids couch is cute.

Leave it to Meadow to find the cat items.

Scott gets embarrassed when we wear the same shoes and then I saw this couple.

On Sunday Marina wanted to do fun things around Minneapolis. First we got Glam Doll Donuts.

We tend to favor Bogarts but sometimes it's nice to expand beyond our neighborhood.

Meadow and Marina have been bestie cousins since they were wee babies. They've sure grown up to be cool cats.

Then we went to bougie Linden Hills.

Pinwheels is the best toy store in the cities. Or at least the one we go to the most often.

It's pretty fun. They have so much stuff!

We also stopped across the street at Heartfelt.

I love the prints in the sister shop to Heartfelt, Piccadilly Prairie.

I always spend the whole time on this side of the shop.

See you later Linden Hills.

Magnatiles Picasso Tiles have taken over our living room.

As they should.

The birthday girl wanted an Oreo Cookie Cake. We surprised her with a chocolate cat on top.

Happy Birthday, Marina!

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

The 8th Installment of a Thing We Call Northwoods New Year's Eve

Thursday I took a half day at work so we could make it up north before it got super late. When we arrived we brought in our stuff, turned on the heat and headed back into town to get groceries. We had hoped to get another rotisserie chicken, but they were out. I chose a pastie for my meal. Meadow and I went for the classic, off-brand, box mac and cheese. We made too much and shared it with Brooke. I went right to work making my ice molds. She's always making luminaries if it's freezing outside and we're at the cottage.

Tuska Brothers' Packers Weekend or How We Ate Our Way Through Green Bay

My rad brother hooked us up with a pair of Packers tickets at Lambeau. We've been talking about doing this for years now and it was finally happening! A Tuska Brothers' Packers Weekend. We met up at the bar at Kroll's West where he was already noshing on a sausage and black olive pizza. Are we even brothers? Doesn't he know that sausage always goes with green bell peppers or spinach? We got the cheapest hotel room in town at the Bay Motel and Family Restaurant . It looks straight out of the 50s and I don't think its trying to be cute. To be honest the place is just nice. After settling in we got beer over at Badger State Brewing. Our friend Jordan , who we just met up with a few weeks back in Seattle, designed some of their newest cans. So we had to stop by. That's so cool. After a couple of beers we drove up the bay to Club Chalet in Benderville for an authentic Wisconsin Supper Club experience.
