Snowy Winter and Some Other Stuff

We got another snowstorm and when I woke up it was so pretty outside with everything covered in snow.

Not a bad view outside our porch.

We needed some milk for breakfast. I braved the blowing snow to walk to the coop and Mexican market to get some groceries.

Oh, look, I snow blowed the snow.

I swear I'm almost done with this. At least all the cracks are patched.

I came up with a way to attach our shop vac to my orbital sander. I'd spend the rest of the day sanding.

Magnatiles everyday.

Books everyday.

We got the kids a Lego Advent calendar this year.

I cleaned under all of our radiators. Looks at all these treasures I found from our kids and the previous kids that lived here.

We picked up this game recently from the thrift store. I love playing board games with the kids.

Boundary Waters Yurt Camping

Early in the week I found out that we had a chance to stay at a yurt in the Boundary Waters . Hipcamp's an awesome new site that helps you find pretty much any campsite. Since we didn't have any plans and we could stay in Duluth halfway we took the bait. We didn't need our tent or camp pads, so we packed a little different than normal.

Stillwater Waterfall and MN River Valley Hiking

Scott had to take some sunset photos in Stillwater.  A fall color aerial 360. I hadn't been there in awhile so we tagged along. We left as soon as Meadow was done for school and headed for the St Croix Boom Site. I had heard there was a hidden waterfall and wanted to check it out. There's not a specific trail to it. From what I read you go down the stairs and take a left following the river.  I think it's an old state trail that isn't maintained and has way too much graffiti.

Backcountry Camping with Kids in Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Day 1  Back in May I stumbled upon Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I had no idea there was a National Park in North Dakota and that it was the northern end of the Badlands. Usually our summer vacations coincide with Scott's work trips. Since he didn't have any this summer I thought we should take advantage of actually taking a vacation. What, my workcations are always classics? I suppose a second real vacation this year wouldn't hurt. We definitely have more time than normal. As long as we took Covid-19  precautions and avoided people. We finally settled on a time to go. Blake joined us so we borrowed our dad's van so we could ride together. Scott had just driven from Michigan the day before. Blake had met my parents in Wisconsin to get the van and then drove from Duluth to pick us up. I offered to drive since I literally only drive twice a month.  I was still pretty tired from a long drive home. Since we were near Fergus Falls we had to stop by the abandoned state ho...
