On The Tenth Day Of Advent We Made A Dough Ornament

A few weeks ago I saw a handmade dough ornament on Facebook and knew I wanted to try it with Meadow.

It was much easier to make than I thought.

After drying it out in a low oven for a few hours it was ready to be painted.

I turned it upside down to make it look like Santa's face.

Watching Paint Dry

Scott worked his morning shift. Again (grr). I have breakfast alone. Again. If this keeps up I may need to start a side blog about cleaning, because today I did just that. I started with cleaning out our built-in bench storage. When Scott brought back a bunch of things from his parents/grandparents this summer he took with him these giant *** speakers. Not only are they huge they take over the bench not allowing easy access to the storage units. They're awesome, but I might get rid of them soon. Pretty clever craftsmanship they had back then. It turns out nothing was in this one. Hmm now that I'm thinking about it this would be a good place to keep all my yarn. The other one had some cords and Peanut. Christmas

For the two of us Christmas means a lot from-scratch cooking. It also usally means a trip to Little Chute and Cudahy, our hometowns in Wisconsin. Since we weren't going home, my parents were going to come up for the weekend, but my mom wasn't feeling well at the last moment. With Scott having to work Christmas Eve and me having to work on Monday we decided driving home wouldn't be worth it. So on Christmas Eve I prepped our Christmas dinner while Scott was helping all the procrastinators. But the show had to go on. It was going to be a smaller occasion, but you can't just ignore Christmas after all. I woke up Christmas morning at 6 am. Not because I was excited to open my gifts, but to bring out the challah and cinnamon rolls so they could proof. For the last five Christmases we've opened presents with Brooke's whole family. Thanks to daylight savings I got up extra early today. For breakfast I had eggs. You thought it was going to be oatmeal didn't you? Scott was working his early shift at work so I worked on chores. I hate when he works when I have off, but in a way I get more done with him gone. Like dishes. Our last two pumpkins from our garden. Before they could start going bad I roasted them in the oven. I then soaked the seeds in salty water for roasting later. This week I decided to clean out our buffet drawers. Each drawer was turning into a junk drawer and needed to be cleaned. I first took everything out to go through what I needed and what could be thrown away/recycled. I pureed the pumpkin to be used for future use. Like pumpkin woopie pies, mmm.
