Bu Bye Chicago, Hello Milwaukee

The morning after the wedding we had leftover bagels for breakfast.

...and Brooke looked out the window.

Haha that's not me, that's Emma. See what I mean? My own husband can't tell the difference.

By the way did you know we had roommates in our hotel room?

I also ate leftover pie from the wedding.

Despite having to be quiet at night we enjoyed sharing our room with Tyler, Emma and Olive. It was kind of like a big sleepover.

Then we had to check out and head to Pilsen for lunch.

Tyler had been talking up Nuevo Leone for a while now, so we skipped Burrito House this time.

Next time it's a must. That's two times in a row that I didn't go to Burrito House.

Pilsen is one my favorite Chicago neighborhoods, so I was easily cajoled.

I'm not exactly sure how they do their laundry with the machine facing the window.

Tyler, Emma and Olive got lost or something, so we walked around for a bit.

Brooke really wanted to eat this hot dog, but I said "No, it's a painting."

Darn!

We met up with Olive and Co. (after waiting for them for like an hour) after departing with them earlier for lunch at one of their favorite old haunts, Nuevo Leon.

Brooke and Olive are best buds.

Some lady told me the carne asada was good, so I ordered that. Definitely one of the better sit down Mexican joints I've been to.

Then we walked over to another one of Emma's favorite places for dulce de leche cake.

 See, we are buds.

After we said goodbye, I ran into this car. I had to take a pic.

After leaving Pilsen and it's abandoned cars we drove up to Lincoln Park.

It was hot again so I suggested we go to the beach for the afternoon.

It was a good time watching the crowds at North Avenue Beach.

Afterwards we met up with the newlyweds at their new hotel nearby the beach.

Me and my other sisters.

Colin and Jen showed up with his buddy Johnny. He was caught off guard. I just let him know that it was for our blog. We also said goodbye to my goofy brother and his lady.

We walked around the neighborhood looking for a place to eat.

We ended up at classic Chicago diner where got some scrumptious food. I think we all enjoyed our food, but I don't have a decent picture to prove that.

Scott got his milkshake to go.

I enjoyed that malt.

Then we said goodbye to Mr. and Mrs. W.

We had plans to stay with some friends who at the moment weren't back in town yet. After trying to get a hold of them and with no place to stay we drove up to Milwaukee.

I wish we could have hung with the sis and new bro-in-law a few more times.

And hang out in Chicago longer with our friends we hadn't seen in forever.

Brooke was really excited in the morning to get breakfast.

When Scott and I first started dating he was living in Milwaukee for the summer while I was in Minneapolis. I would drive down numerous times throughout the summer to see him. One of the places we would go for breakfast was Comet.

I was so tired from not sleeping much the past weekend I ordered coffee. Those who know me know I don't drink coffee that often. Even though I LOVE the smell of freshly brewed coffee.

I ate a plate of spin on poutine with fries, sausage gravy, eggs and cheddar cheese. Not quite perfect poutine sans cheese curds, yet it was delicious.

Then we parked our car down the road and walked to the Milwuakee Art Museum

Pretty, ain't it?

Then we walked around downtown Milwaukee. I wish more buildings of this size survived Minneapolis' urban renewal.

I of course wanted to check out the library. Before we were even engaged I dreamed of having my wedding here. Having no library card I left empty handed.

She sure does love them books.

Afterwards we ended up near the county courthouse.

I had to stop by Usinger's, but seeing as we forgot our cooler, I didn't buy any sausage to bring back.

We then headed back toward our car for the trip back home.

We stopped at Humbird's on the way for a cheese and sausage snack.

And ate melting candy.

I miss Chicago already.

Want to move to Chicago?

I can't find that dress that Olive is wearing. It must have somehow been left in Illinois. Somewhere..

I'm pretty sure that's a photo of you, Brooke, looking out the window. :)

Haha you're right Emma it is me! That piece of hair on my face looks like it could be glasses but then I looked closer and see that I am wearing bracelets. You don't wear bracelets. Oops.

Haha. I saw the bracelets. But the hair seemed me at first. Until I saw the bracelets. :)
Yeah, Chicago sounds cool. I just don't want to get my hopes up or make any definitive plans until next summer.

A Tettegouche Camp Cabin and Roller Garden Brooke Birthday

Saturday It's become a yearly tradition to stay at a cabin for my birthday. Since Saturday night was the only night that worked for us this year, our locations to stay at were slim. We had casually checked places all week. We hoped to stay somewhere with snow, but all those places were far away or booked. We decided to wait to see what was available on Saturday.

They Emptied Little Falls Lake, So We Walked In It or...the Great WIllow River State Park Drawdown of 2015

Blake texted me a few days ago saying that he was coming this weekend with his friend Justin. I'm loving having guests this month. The morning after they arrived I made my famous breakfast. "Grace." It's an inside joke. Sort of. It was going to be 50 degrees today so we decided to go hiking at nearby Willow River State Park in Wisconsin. Scott's dad had gifted us a Wisconsin State Park pass for Christmas and today seemed like a good day to go. Meadow didn't want to go hiking. Instead she stopped for every branch and played in the icy snow. I guess Justin and Blake weren't in a rush either. We weren't sure what this was for. I have been trying to convince Scott for awhile now that we should vlog. He hates the idea. The other day while talking to my friend Cevonne she mentioned that we should do video blogs. I told Scott we should at least try it so today was our first video day. I am using our trusty flip video c

Dakotas Road Trip: Badlands and Black Hills

I thought we would skip Wall Drug this time since we've seen it before but Scott was gun ho on going.  Come on. You can't go to the Badlands and skip the world's greatest tourist trap. First stop ice cream.  We thought we would have lunch here but after seeing the prices decided we would cook something at the park instead. But first we had to take a couple tourist pics. When we we decided we were coming here I was expecting it to be 90's and hot. Did not think it would be rainy, chilly and foggy.  I always make Brooke look cool. She on the other hand always finds a way to take a pic at the most awkward possible moment. Either that or I'm just really awkward. Earlier this year, I asked Theo where he wanted to go on vacations this year. He said he wanted to backpack camp at the Badlands because he was sad he didn't get to go yet. This is all for you buddy.
