A Dreary Sunday

We had planned to get up early and go to the farmer's market before Scott had to go to work. Of course that didn't happen. It was one of those cold rainy days where you just don't want to get out of bed.

I got up first and ate a bowl of puffed rice granola. I needed something in my stomach before my 11 to 7 shift at Geek Squad.

I had my oatmeal and banana breakfast alone. Sigh.

I wouldn't of had time to go to the Minneapolis Farmers Market so I went to my neighborhood one on Broadway. As I was crossing the street an older gentlemen yelled to me to smile and said, "All you got to do is smile don't be so gloomy." Again I must look depressed if I'm not smiling.

As you can see a lot of repairs haven't been done since the tornado.

I got all this for only $5 at the farmers market. Each group of vegetables was only a dollar each. I was hoping to get some apples today. Maybe next week.

Well my herb garden really took off. The basil mostly took over. There is some tarragon trying to grow underneath it.

The squirrels have been stealing all our sunflower seeds for the winter. I have a feeling sunflowers are going to be growing all over our yard next year.

I also noticed jalapenos starting to grow. Here's hoping I get at least one before winter.

For lunch I had stir fry. It may look like I only eat oatmeal and stir-fries, but that's not true.

I ate the other leftovers: pesto with fettuccine and a small bowl of homegrown tomato soup. You can't really tell from the picture, but I watched a Rob Schneider movie during my lunch break. That TV never gets turned off; it just sits there waiting for an employee to take a break.

I then walked over to Tyler and Emma's house to do some exchanging. I needed to borrow some items for the wedding and she needed some items for cooking.

Ms. Olive had just woken from her nap. She's so stinkin' cute. Curious about her necklace?

I'm pretty sure Emma's the only one I know that's had success with tomatoes this year. Most of it she has canned already and still has tons left. I'm a little jealous. I then headed back home to do some chores.

While on Facebook I noticed this ad. I really hope this kid doesn't need a cell phone. I was 18 when I got my first one and I turned out fine.

I was about to do some cleaning when Emma called. She was making chili, but didn't have any chili powder. Lucky for her we had 5 bottles.

Then I tackled cleaning all our floor fans. I'm pretty confident we won't be using them anymore and they were getting kinda gross.

Then I cleaned the rest of the house. With the summer being busy and too hot I may have skipped on cleaning a few times. I'm trying to stay on regular cleaning schedule, especially since lots of people will be coming to our house next month.

Scott finally returned. Sundays are not fundays without him.

We ate more leftovers for dinner. What a dreary Sunday?

Then I set to work on pretty much the only wedding project I'm actually doing myself.

I cant say what it's for just yet.

Good Night.

Thanks so much for the chili powder. :) There seems to be a reflection of us in our mixer bowl in the tomato photo. I always look at that house with the roof still missing and without a tarp on Penn. Hmm.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Dakotas Road Trip: Badlands and Black Hills

I thought we would skip Wall Drug this time since we've seen it before but Scott was gun ho on going.  Come on. You can't go to the Badlands and skip the world's greatest tourist trap. First stop ice cream.  We thought we would have lunch here but after seeing the prices decided we would cook something at the park instead. But first we had to take a couple tourist pics. When we we decided we were coming here I was expecting it to be 90's and hot. Did not think it would be rainy, chilly and foggy.  I always make Brooke look cool. She on the other hand always finds a way to take a pic at the most awkward possible moment. Either that or I'm just really awkward. Earlier this year, I asked Theo where he wanted to go on vacations this year. He said he wanted to backpack camp at the Badlands because he was sad he didn't get to go yet. This is all for you buddy.

4th of July 2025: Our Annual Romenesko Reunion

4th of July, you say? Of course we were going up to Three Lakes and the cottage. I took a half day on Thursday and we headed to the cottage. Scott had to stop in Lindstrom which brought us to an old favorite for lunch in Taylor's Falls, The Drive In . Still pretty, pretty good. Even though it was super hot today, we had to keep our AC on.  This is the one time of the year where the whole family is together. Exchanging of belated birthday gifts it is. Theo didn't know what he wanted so he got money. Meadow got a new hairbrush and the Warriors Ultimate Guide Book. We all seem to stick to our greatest hits for the 4th weekend. Brittany and Jeff once again made table nachos. This is making me want nachos back home. Do we look alike? I think that with this seating arrangement that you can see how both Chelsea and Brooke look like Brittany, but Brooke and Chelsea don't look anything alike. The good place.  Blake already had a quest for the kids to do. Why does Brooke look this cu...
