That's The Way We Get By

It seems like everytime I go somewhere I don't want to return back to Minneapolis, I always seem to be leaving something that I love. It was nice to get away from my usual repeative schedule that I have every week. I love that vacation feeling, even if it is only 2 days long. Chicago is the new Minneapolis. I remember how excited I was to go to the cities and I couldn't wait to move there. Now I can't wait to move to Chicago. I think I get bored with things too easily.

We made a long cold trip across the city of Chicago to get my wallet. I wouldn't have even known it was the super bowl if I hadn't gone down this weekend. The whole city was pumped for the Bears, people were literally running everywhere to see the kickoff. I played wii for the first time. It just made me miss playing golf, which made me miss summer. It didn't take many pictures this weekend because it was so gosh darn cold.

Things have been good otherwise. I really like school. I know I talk about it a lot, but for once I'm actually learning things that apply to my life. I don't remember anything I learned in English or math. I eat healthier and read nutrition labels. C'mon how many classes have you taken where your assignment was to make these.

I finally bought my ticket to London, it's not all talk anymore I'm actually going for real. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

My dad bought me darkroom equipment. I can't wait to start developing my own pictures. I've been wanting to do so for so long.

August Adventures Back in Minnesota

I had a brief lull a fter being super busy in the early summer. So I took the kids up to Lindstrom with me to pick up a lens and go on a little adventure. We found a cool little shop along Lindstrom's main drag, A Ghost in the Attic . Meadow wanted every little knickknack.  She did get some really cool glow in the dark alien cat earrings.  Then we went to the Franconia Sculpture Park . I used to take the kids here every summer. Feel like we hadn't been back in years. We explored for a while, but it was way too hot. These kids can't handle the heat, so we made our way back toward home. We all decided on Jay's Thai Kitchen  for a lunch on the way home. This place ruled. Back in Minneapolis, we all walked over to Victors for breakfast. I had been wanting to take the kids out for breakfast all summer and today was the first time it finally worked out for all of us to go. I love this place.  After a warm end to the week, it was nice to have a rainy Saturday. Look how gre...

Biking to Doors Open Minneapolis 2025

This weekend was Doors Open. We had missed the last couple years so I had a big list of places to see. I thought we'd drive to get to more places quickly, but Scott insisted we bike as it was easier to park.  Theo and I were ready to take some pics. We started out at the Rand Tower. My personal favorite Minneapolis skyscraper. Next we got to see inside a manhole. They had robots patrolling the sewer and a live video feed on a TV.  Then we walked over to the Dayton's Project. I really wish their food hall idea would have followed through, it's sad to see it so empty.  It's still mostly empty and I'm not sure if they know what to do with the space. We got to go in the nooks and crannies of the old JB Hudsons space, like this the old window display. There was lounge or bar that was opening soon to the public.

Work Trip: Dallas Part Deux

I was back in Dallas for a day or so to shoot another college campus. After the shoot I made my way back to Bishop Arts District for some tacos at Taqueria El Si Hay . Of course Scott get sent to the cities you don't want to visit in summer. Hey, I just go where they send me. I should've got some elotes on the side. It was only 98 and humid. Just your typical Dallas summer day. I ended up finding a shady park to eat. There’s a lot, and I mean a ton, of suburban sprawl in Dallas proper. But if you look hard enough there’s some rather large areas of pre-WWII development.
