A January Friendsgiving

Scott had been working nights all week while I picked up extra hours/days. Today he finally got a chance to sleep in. I had to shoot five gyms in the immediate area plus two further afield at 10 pm every night this week. Some nights I wasn't home until four or five in the morning. I was pooped. Meadow and I had poached eggs on avocado toast for breakfast. While Scott still slept I finished up the guest room repaint. Thanks, bear. I had painted it during the week. I got the two coats done while Brooke touched up my work. So long Blueberry Popover walls. Meadow then needed a bang trim. We were going to have a January Friendsgiving, but first Meadow wanted to make a tent behind one our chairs. I guess we didn't need to build a tent after all. The Tandoori Turkey  (we skipped the turkey bag and covered it with Silpats for the last two hours) had already been cooking for hours when we started all the sides. Curried-cumin potatoes. Wi...

House Remodeling and June's Bday

Another weekend home means I'm back to making fancy breakfasts. I helped out by making some poached eggs. Avocado on hasbrowns with Scott's poached eggs. Added sprouts for the parents. And hot sauce for papa. That's me. After breakfast Scott and I went back to working on the house. While he is working on the upstairs bathroom I am working on skim coating the guest room ceiling. Meanwhile Meadow did her own thing. Like coloring... helping herself to the fridge and reading books. She loves to just take apples out of the fridge without asking. I guess I can't get too mad. Brooke used up the last of the ceiling paint. After two days I patched the plaster around the toilet. Working with plaster of paris is a pain, but I'm gettting pretty good at it. Next time I might use DAP's wall patch variant of plaster. Yay no more hole in the wall. For lunch we had caramel corn. Then we headed over to Emma ...

Thomas and Logging in Duluth

Thursday Scott picked me up from work so we could get to Duluth right away.  We had plans. Thomas the train was waiting for us in the Twin Ports. We decided to stop at Tobie's for dinner, we had always wanted to try this place. Meadow had been napping, normally she's okay when we wake her up, but this time she would not stop crying.  We weren't sure what to order and Meadow was just getting worse. So, we decided to spend our money in Duluth instead.

The Women Take the Kids Camping to William O'Brien State Park

Scott had to work this weekend, which kept us home for once. Seeing as this is my first summer in 8 years that I don't have to work weekends I couldn't just stay home. She just can't. Sorry Minneapolis friends.

Camping Marshall by Ourselves and Redwood Falls with Friends

Scott had to do a reshoot in Marshall so we planned on camping for the night since he had to drive all the way out there. It's a three hour drive. I suggest not screwing up like this. Anna asked if we wanted to camp with them and as it turns out they were planning to go a half hour east of where we were.

A Multimodal Train Day (and MSP Home Tour) and May Day Weekend

We had one sweet potato left so why not make breakfast tacos again. This time I roasted the sweet potatoes the night before and reheated it in the morning to make it faster. Brooke is a breakfast goddess.

Spring Means Gardening, Grill Outs and Bike Rides

I spent my Saturday morning at Wirth Chalet for the Assemble 26th Avenue public artists workshop. Meanwhile Meadow and I fed Honey while Tyler and Emma are out of town.  When I walked in their kitchen the toaster oven turned itself on and the timer went off. It freaked me out a little so I unplugged it.  I'm loving Emma's twig fence.  We headed over to their house before eating breakfast. Back at home Meadow sliced some fruit for our breakfast. Giant yogurt bowls. After that I spent all morning baking a Lemon Rhubarb Bundt cake and a loaf of bread. On Friday we made gyro nachos. These were even better as leftovers. Meadow's going to hate having all of these pics of her eating when she's older. At least she's super cute. "Take a picture of me doing ballet." She loves ballet and no longer requires the classical radio station to do some killer moves. We are either too busy on nice days, or it r...
