Weekend Chores

These kids love their blanket forts.

I love mornings on the porch.

I do not like fixing bikes, no matter what Brooke thinks.

After I got a flat tire on my bike the tire was torn so it was time to replace. I found some tires from REI that were my size. They were online order only. Once they arrived and I tried to install them, we couldn't get them to fit. Turns out 26.5" bike tires are not the same as 26 1/2" bike tires. We brought them back to REI and purchased new ones. These tires fit, but were too beefy to fit under the fender. At this rate I was never getting my bike back.

FYI look at the number like 650B and not the standard measurement.

On our busy days, the kids are on their own.

Only busy because I told Brooke we neeeded to take a week off from constant vacation.

Now that Theo is 6, he doesn't really need the monkey bars.

I think he does, but what do I know.

I swapped out the bars for handle bars. Now I'm not so sure.

That can't be comfortable.

When the seat is at my height the handles are awkwardly low for Theo.

After our little bit of time away, the picnic table I built was weathering fast. My dad suggested using a deck stain since it would be outside year round. We chose a reddish hue but on the table it was looking bright orange.

Ah, well.

My least favorite pastime in the world: painting this massive duplex. Well, actually priming. Do people really follow the rule that says no painting in direct sunlight?

It was looking a little better once it was all coated.

With Spring Comes Biking

Whenever daylight savings changes I flip the mattress. (I know I'm a little late) Every new season I change the duvet cover.  Scott actually helps me this time. Yup, I'm cool like that. I was a little worried we had too much dough so we got out every pan that could be used for muffins. I was wrong, we only needed two pans. By the time we actually eat "breakfast," at least that's what Brooke calls it, Peanut has already finished most of his Organmix. I know, we spoil the little runt. Speaking of Brooke's fascination with breakfast, she will not eat anything that resembles lunch for her first meal of the day. So, even on the laziest Sunday, breakfast comes before lunch. As you can see Brooklyn really loved her muffin-fast -- even if it was already 1 p.m. While I finish up some dishes Brooke cleans the kitchen. Did you know that Brooke is a cleaning expert (really, she'll clean your house or cook for you. H...

A Few Thoughts to Pass the Time

I'm sitting at the library, my new hang out besides random coffee shops. Class isn't for another 2 hours and I've finished all my homework. There's a guy running across holding his pants up and rush hour is just setting in. I never realized how weird Minnesotians actually are until I saw American Idol last night. They were doing auditions in Minneapolis, which Randy liked to call Minnehopeless. I thought it was just the culinary students that we're weird at my school, but no it's the whole state. The majority of the people that I know here are not actually from Minnesota, only one that truely is seems ok to me. Maybe I'm just like them but I don't want to admit it. School is alright. It keeps me busy. I like that some classes only have 10 students. Everyone in my Nutrition class eats healthy and reads the ingredient list but me. At least I get to take home everything I make in my baking class. Summer seems so far away. I need to find a place to live befo...

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....
