2011 Better Late Than Never

While looking through previous posts I'd written in the past I remembered how I used to make best and worst lists of the previous year. I thought I would do that again. Even if it's a month late.

Best of 2011
1. Marrying the love of my life.
2. Getting a whole week off for vacation.
3. Cheesefest and Door County
4. Having 2 of my closest friends become new moms.

Worst of 2011
1. Witnessing a tornado. Something I hope to never experience again.
2. Not being able to go to California with Scott.
3. Spending all our holidays here without family. Although Freaster and Friendsgiving were fun.
4. Scott having to work Sundays.
5. Waiting many months for our freezer.
(There really wasn't many bad things this year)

Things I Look Forward to in 2012
1. A real honeymoon?
2. Going to Chicago for Scott's sisters wedding.
3. Joining our first CSA.
4. Camping in summer
5. Becoming a better bread baker.

Six Months, More Like Six Years

Approaching the 11th hour of this Sunday we finally rolled out of bed. Brooke and I made a night out of our six month since being married. In a way we could be celebrating six plus years together. I met the little lady above in February 2006. Now we garden together. We had a lovely night indeed: dinner at Red Stag and drinks at Aster Cafe.  I went outside to show Brooke where our new boulevard tree was going to be planted. We found a love letter in our bushes. Brooke couldn't read it, so we let it dry on one of the radiators.  The first page was mostly apologizing for not writing and then the second page turned sour with lots of swear words.  We drove downtown to eat brunch. We parked across from this rare small pre-1950s building that has somehow survived in downtown Minneapolis's ongoing urban renewal. We decided to eat at La Belle Crepe since I picked up this for our post-wedding breakfast back on that October day. This creperie is...

Honeymoon: Locks, Falls and a Damn Ankle

Once we decided to exit stage Mackinac, we had to decide what to do asap.

Farmer's Markets, Home Tours and Dirt

We slept in again today. It's becoming a bad habit of mine lately. I was really hungry when I woke up so I had an apple and a few strawberries. Grandpa Lungwitz got a big writeup in the Redgranite paper and he sent us the story in the mail. After deciding we had to make it to the farmer's market and breakfast could wait, we checked out the demolished Broadway Liquor Outlet along the way. It got heavily damaged by the tornado and sat rotting away for nearly a year.  Here's what it looked like right after the storm. It really was one of my favorite buildings on the northside. It made Penn and Broadway.  The owner is going to be erecting a large multi-use building across the street. So, we'll get back the best liquor store on the Northside. I haven't heard anything about what will go in that hole. Brooke and I meandered through Near North to the farmers market. I was pretty excited that this weekend was the opening.  There wasn't much...
