We're Selling the Condo

We always knew our condo would be temporary. I could stay here forever but eventually Meadow and Theo will want their own space. Our next house will be a duplex with the other unit being rented out.

We had planned to keep the condo and rent it out too (and buy a duplex), but it wasn't quite working out with financing. Also realized we'd make a killing on selling the condo. Extra bonus: we'd get a nicer duplex with more cash down.

We had been looking for places for the past 8 months, but houses are selling super fast in this market. If we actually want to make an offer we need to sell our place first. So today was spent getting the house ready.

I've been working on the house every day since getting back from our week at the cottage.

12:00 Scott works in the kitchen

I worked on deep cleaning the living room. So many toys hidden under the radiator.

Meadow ended up staying with my parents after we left the cottage. Theo was left on his own but I don't think he minded.

1:00

Still deep cleaning the living room. I was scrubbing any marks on the floors.

You can't see it, but i put the finishing touches on the plaster repair behind the radiator. The living room paint also got touched up. Flat paint looks great, but doesn't age well.

Theo moved to playing with toys. We had moved all their bigger toys to a storage unit until we move.

2:00

It's so clean.

Our hallway was filled with pictures on the walls. Scott patched up all the holes.

I didn't want to repaint it, but it was a butt ugly color.

Theo moved to watching tv in our bedroom.

4:00

I moved to deep cleaning and decluttering the dining room.

Theo was admiring the clean living room.

Some more patching on my end. Almost ready to paint.

5:00

Still need to go through that shelf.

Beer break or cooking dinner, I think.

Theo likes having all these toys and now room to play in their bedroom.

6:00

I was touching up the paint that I somehow missed near the window in the kitchen.

Back to watching tv.

7:00

Not sure how we accumulated so much stuff in the last 3.5 years.

I picked up paint from Menards at some point. Was it the same day? I'm not sure. Then the much more inviting color was slapped on the wall.

We had always wanted to paint this hallway. I wish we hadn't waited so long.

Back to toys.

9:00

First coat of paint looked great. Now I focused on the horrendously painted trim.

I'd spend the next week and a half getting the bathroom gussied up. A light here, new towel bar and toilet paper holder there. And then took pictures of the house. Before we knew it would be on the market. But first Brooke's parents came to visit.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Work Trip: Scott Goes to Florida

As I mentioned in the last post, I had a job down in Florida at the tail end of the week. Daytona Beach to be precise.    I proposed the whole family tag along, but they did not like the idea of Florida in the Summer. Anyways, after my shoot I checked Ormond Beach just to the north of Daytona. Theo is allergic to the sun and I knew he would hate going.  If there wasn't four lanes of busy traffic, this town would be great.

With Spring Comes Biking

Whenever daylight savings changes I flip the mattress. (I know I'm a little late) Every new season I change the duvet cover.  Scott actually helps me this time. Yup, I'm cool like that. I was a little worried we had too much dough so we got out every pan that could be used for muffins. I was wrong, we only needed two pans. By the time we actually eat "breakfast," at least that's what Brooke calls it, Peanut has already finished most of his Organmix. I know, we spoil the little runt. Speaking of Brooke's fascination with breakfast, she will not eat anything that resembles lunch for her first meal of the day. So, even on the laziest Sunday, breakfast comes before lunch. As you can see Brooklyn really loved her muffin-fast -- even if it was already 1 p.m. While I finish up some dishes Brooke cleans the kitchen. Did you know that Brooke is a cleaning expert (really, she'll clean your house or cook for you. H...
