Painting Our Bedroom, Open Streets and Evening Walks

I always say we don't need to add another hobby. I always lose out. This time Meadow got roller blades.

She had been asking for some and found ones her size at Play It Again Sports. It gets her outside and keeps her practicing for ice skating.

She's a natural.

Theo's #1 skill is reading and walking. Every time we walk past a Little Free Library he's ready to roll.

I hate that it's getting dark so early.

We have some nice homes in our neighborhood.

After we bought paint for our bedroom June of last year, I finally decided it was time to paint.

She's doing it! After years of having the same color in our old North Minneapolis house and then, somehow, our new condo bedroom, it was time. We had the paint for a year, but just never got to it.

While mom painted, we played Xbox 360.

Twins.

This little dude.

Meadow came in occasionally to watch me.

It feels like we spent the whole weekend without mom.

Eating lunch.

Crafting.

And playing.

On Sunday I wanted to watch the Packers game, but a few games every year are blacked out. I figured out that I could get a Chromecast and a trial for NFL Sunday Ticket. I know, I'm a little obsessed about watching Packers games.

Meadow has a mermaid makeup kit and asked if her makeup was okay.

I had totally forgotten what color we had originally picked. Not at all what I was expecting, but it's so much better than the red. Our room feels so much brighter.

I took a break from painting to go to Open Streets with Meadow.

Meadow must do all the crafts.

And has to bedazzle her bike.

Give her a ballon and she's happy.

We briefly ran into Anna and the kids.
After the game and Theo's nap, we went over to Nicollet to meet Brooke and Meadow at Open Streets.

The weather was a bit gloomy this Open Streets.

Was definitely quieter than previous years.

Then we finally found the ladies.

It started to rain and we made it to the beginning.

Fresh strawberry popsicles for free? Sure.

Then the rain came down harder and all the crowds left.

On the way back we ran into Alexis, my old bud from the Northside.

Meadow wanted to watch the bike polo game.

Meadow wanted to watch longer, but the rainy weather made it not so pleasant.

Most booths were closing up so we headed back.

When we got home Theo checked on mama's painting. He approved.

A Tiny House-Driftless Brooke Birthday Weekend

Theo is now an expert at feeding himself. Still messy but at least he gets it mostly in his mouth.

Backcountry Camping with Kids in Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Day 1  Back in May I stumbled upon Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I had no idea there was a National Park in North Dakota and that it was the northern end of the Badlands. Usually our summer vacations coincide with Scott's work trips. Since he didn't have any this summer I thought we should take advantage of actually taking a vacation. What, my workcations are always classics? I suppose a second real vacation this year wouldn't hurt. We definitely have more time than normal. As long as we took Covid-19  precautions and avoided people. We finally settled on a time to go. Blake joined us so we borrowed our dad's van so we could ride together. Scott had just driven from Michigan the day before. Blake had met my parents in Wisconsin to get the van and then drove from Duluth to pick us up. I offered to drive since I literally only drive twice a month.  I was still pretty tired from a long drive home. Since we were near Fergus Falls we had to stop by the abandoned state ho...

Brooke Turns 40, We Return to the Riverside Cabin at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters

This year is my 40th birthday. We originally thought we'd go to Mackinac Island and also played with the idea of going to Montreal. With a spring break trip coming up we settled on a cabin on the Gunflint Trail. The Gunflint Trail is one of our favorite spots in Minnesota. So, why not? We'd also decided to go on another campervan/RV relocation adventure at the end of the month. So don't act like I don't treat my honey. On our drive up we stopped at Tobie's to get cinnamon bread for french toast.  Just like a few years back we stopped at Hungry Hippie Tacos in Duluth. I feel like we have to document whenever these kids get along as it's a rarity these days.
