A No Nap Sunday

Meadow bug woke up this Sunday while Brooke made us breakfast. Brooke's been making us breakfast more and more on Sundays. I guess I needed a break.

I thought I would make our version of potatoes O'Brein with brussel sprouts.

This was probably the highlight of the day.

Avocado toast has been our new breakfast favorite.

She still prefers feeding herself.

Meadow's new favorite game is climbing in and out of her Bumbo seat.

We've had quite a bit of rain this spring. A night earlier nature washed out our gutters.

We sat around most of morning not wanting to do anything. It was rainy outside, so not much we could do outside. I thought we could really use a rain barrel with all the rain. We looked up how to make your own on Pinterest and then headed to Menards.

We ditched the idea of making a rain barrel since we didn't like any of the garbage cans Menards had. I also needed to pick out some paint for a birthday present I'm working on for Meadow.

While Brooke picked out colors, we got some more grass seed, landscape rocks and a few other odds and ends.

Moroccan-spcied Pastitsio is one of my favorite meals, but it just isn't the same during late Spring.

Back at home we were feeling lazy again. I'm working on a birthday crown for Meadow and wanted to finish it while she was awake to make sure it fit.

We tried to put Meadow down for a nap, but she wasn't having it.

Brooke's obsessed with smoothies lately.

Our garden turned into a patch of weeds since we planted two weeks back.

Since the rain stopped we figured we should probably work on the yard. I wasn't really in the mood for it. During the week I don't mind. I think when Scott helps me it feels more like a chore.

She's always finding something to eat.

Always have to watch her like a hawk. You never know what she might have discovered.

For not napping at all she seemed to be in a pretty good mood.

We were both lazy still. So we ordered Pizza Hut from the Xbox app. I know. I'm embarrassed.

It was too late to make dinner and we don't really care for our local pizza place.

The crust and sauce were as good as I remember, but what's up with their cheese?

I can't remember the last time I had Pizza Hut.

We watched Game of Thrones and Girls.

We've been doing that a lot lately.

Work Trip: Scott Goes to Florida

As I mentioned in the last post, I had a job down in Florida at the tail end of the week. Daytona Beach to be precise.    I proposed the whole family tag along, but they did not like the idea of Florida in the Summer. Anyways, after my shoot I checked Ormond Beach just to the north of Daytona. Theo is allergic to the sun and I knew he would hate going.  If there wasn't four lanes of busy traffic, this town would be great.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Chicago Chrismukkah + Michigander Xmas

Before heading out on our trip we let the kids open their Christmas gifts from us. A knitted sweater for Theo and a kitty dress for Meadow (I fixed the straps for her) both made by me. I wanna a sweater. Scott got them new compact sleeping bags. We all got smaller sleeping bags this year and we'll now have a lot more room in our car. This year we had talked about hosting my family at the cottage. Then meeting up in Milwaukee, then meeting in Chicago. But in the end we made stops in Chicago and Lowell this Christmas. We left on a Sunday which was nice to have a few days to prepare. On the way down to Chicago we stopped at our favorite roadside restaurant, Foster Cheese Haus. We had plans to break up our drives so we didn't have to rush like we normally do. We had made it just before the cheese haus was set to close for the winter. Just not enough folks stop here in winter and snowmobile season is becoming shorter and shorter this far so...
