Another Lazy Sunday With Cevonne and Jose

Since I have to rotate my seedlings everyday Scott said I should just move the greenhouse so the bottom shelf gets sun. Now its not in direct sunlight so we will see how this works.

I thought the whole shelf would get more light this way, but we will see.

Meadow and I like hanging out in bed. I sit there while she tires herself out.

I had to put the little one down for a nap. It's kind of my thing.

It's nice that he can start helping out now. She's had enough times being nursed to sleep.

The other day Scott made my belated birthday cake. This year I asked for a cookie cake.

I found one on Pinterest that was a peanut butter chocolate chip cooke cake with chocolate frosting, chopped peanut butter cups and drizzled chocolate fudge. Yea it tastes as good as it sounds.

I skipped breakfast and went straight for Hungarian-style stuffed cabbage. I might be biased towards the sauerkraut-less Polish version.

Meadow likes helping me with laundry and when I say help I mean she throws everything around.

She always seem to be on an adventure.

We mostly lounged around in her room all day trying to think of something to do.

I feel like every year around this time I get cabin fever. The snow is melting so no more snowshoeing and it's too cold to do anything else. There's always shopping, but then we end up spending too much.

Cevonne texted us saying they were having a lazy day in their pajamas and asked if we wanted to join.

We were keen on that idea.

First we had to finish lunch.

Menard's was having their 11% off everything sale and we needed new ceiling fans.

We're getting close to having everything in the house perfect apart from the floors, bathroom and kitchen.

When we arrived they were more interested in Meadow than us haha.

Madeline was super excited.

We all gathered around the coffee table and snacked on homemade dips.

Madeline likes to join Duncan in the dog kennel.

Then we watched Despicable Me before sending Madeline off to bed.

Then it was bedtime for us.

Work Trip: Scott Goes to Florida

As I mentioned in the last post, I had a job down in Florida at the tail end of the week. Daytona Beach to be precise. I proposed the whole family tag along, but they did not like the idea of Florida in the Summer. Anyways, after my shoot I checked Ormond Beach just to the north of Daytona. Theo is allergic to the sun and I knew he would hate going. If there wasn't four lanes of busy traffic, this town would be great.

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast. Scott added granola to his oatmeal. The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it. Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof. Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Chicago Chrismukkah + Michigander Xmas

Before heading out on our trip we let the kids open their Christmas gifts from us. A knitted sweater for Theo and a kitty dress for Meadow (I fixed the straps for her) both made by me. I wanna a sweater. Scott got them new compact sleeping bags. We all got smaller sleeping bags this year and we'll now have a lot more room in our car. This year we had talked about hosting my family at the cottage. Then meeting up in Milwaukee, then meeting in Chicago. But in the end we made stops in Chicago and Lowell this Christmas. We left on a Sunday which was nice to have a few days to prepare. On the way down to Chicago we stopped at our favorite roadside restaurant, Foster Cheese Haus. We had plans to break up our drives so we didn't have to rush like we normally do. We had made it just before the cheese haus was set to close for the winter. Just not enough folks stop here in winter and snowmobile season is becoming shorter and shorter this far so...
