Sick Day

I feel bigger than I look.

She also looks bigger than she looks.

Scott has been sick the last week and a half and I finally caught it on our last day in California. I managed to make it all winter without getting sick, but today I felt like crud when I woke up.

I thought I was starting feel better, but the after the super early plane ride from San Fran that was not the case.

We still had things to do despite our sickness. I did laundry while Scott made out a grocery list.

Brooke takes days to come up with two meals, so I have to figure out the rest.

Then Scott helped me change the sheets before we went to the grocery store.

I'm a good husband like that.

Since I chose to be medicine free during this pregnancy I loaded up on immune boosting foods.

I love oranges almost as much as I love Brooke. They're both great.

The night before we had dinner at Element, a local pizza place that uses brick ovens, down on Broadway across the river. Like Punch minus the chain. I had leftovers for lunch.

It was damn good food, but I had no leftovers.

I was pretty wiped out from the day. So, I took a nap. For some reason I prefer napping in the guest room.

I  also took a nap, but on the coach, and when I woke up I had no idea where she was. We don't go into the room very much.

While she still napped, I took some initiate and made broccoli, tofu and rice noodle stir fry.

Then I watched the documentary Babies. I've seen it before, but wanted to see it again. The little Mongolian guy is my favorite. Scott had seen it as well and opted out this time.

It was great the first time, but not worth watching again. I have plenty of friends with kids to know what they are like.

Then it was early to bed for these sickos.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Work Trip: Scott Goes to Florida

As I mentioned in the last post, I had a job down in Florida at the tail end of the week. Daytona Beach to be precise.    I proposed the whole family tag along, but they did not like the idea of Florida in the Summer. Anyways, after my shoot I checked Ormond Beach just to the north of Daytona. Theo is allergic to the sun and I knew he would hate going.  If there wasn't four lanes of busy traffic, this town would be great.

Chicago Chrismukkah + Michigander Xmas

Before heading out on our trip we let the kids open their Christmas gifts from us. A knitted sweater for Theo and a kitty dress for Meadow (I fixed the straps for her) both made by me. I wanna a sweater. Scott got them new compact sleeping bags. We all got smaller sleeping bags this year and we'll now have a lot more room in our car. This year we had talked about hosting my family at the cottage. Then meeting up in Milwaukee, then meeting in Chicago. But in the end we made stops in Chicago and Lowell this Christmas. We left on a Sunday which was nice to have a few days to prepare. On the way down to Chicago we stopped at our favorite roadside restaurant, Foster Cheese Haus. We had plans to break up our drives so we didn't have to rush like we normally do. We had made it just before the cheese haus was set to close for the winter. Just not enough folks stop here in winter and snowmobile season is becoming shorter and shorter this far so...
