They've been saying for days we were going to have snowstorm today. I wake up to this. Cloudy but no snow yet.

As usual I get up before Scott.

Sunday's are Pick-On-Peanut days.

I start making breakfast.

While it bakes in the oven I get dressed.

It has started snowing so I figure its a sweater kind of day.

Mmm pannekoeken or BIG PANCAKE.

This is Scott's "why do you always have to take pictures of me face"

Because I say, I'm the only one taking pictures"

We have things to do snow or no snow. We stop at Theodore Wirth to look at a possible wedding venue.

We like what we see.

Then we go to our favorite antique store Hunt and Gather. Everything is 20% off this weekend. We find a few things to spruce up our house.

Since we were close by we go grocery shopping at the new Linden Hills Coop. Not to sound snobbish but we were disappointed with the stores lack of local items. The bulk section didn't have any noodles either. We probably won't be shopping here again.

I get the job of clearing snow off the car.

We bought a new chair for our living room at Hunt and Gather.

We have a late lunch. Leftovers from Crescent Moon, goat cheese on an epi baguette and a mandarin.

We decide to do more wedding planning. We looked up prices and caterers.

Scott then braves the blowing snow to go to CVS down the block.

He comes back and says "I hate those shades you can't see outside." And walks over and takes them down.

I work on the centerpieces.

while Scott does lazy man dishes.

Then we both watch TV. Me on my computer and him on the TV.

Then I receive a very exciting text message!

Scott prepares dinner: Spinach Cannelloni.

Lots of spinach in our dinner again.

We have dinner late. Because we're cheap and like to save on electricity we eat our dinners in candlelight.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast. Scott added granola to his oatmeal. The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it. Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof. Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Work Trip: Scott Goes to Florida

As I mentioned in the last post, I had a job down in Florida at the tail end of the week. Daytona Beach to be precise. I proposed the whole family tag along, but they did not like the idea of Florida in the Summer. Anyways, after my shoot I checked Ormond Beach just to the north of Daytona. Theo is allergic to the sun and I knew he would hate going. If there wasn't four lanes of busy traffic, this town would be great.

Chicago Chrismukkah + Michigander Xmas

Before heading out on our trip we let the kids open their Christmas gifts from us. A knitted sweater for Theo and a kitty dress for Meadow (I fixed the straps for her) both made by me. I wanna a sweater. Scott got them new compact sleeping bags. We all got smaller sleeping bags this year and we'll now have a lot more room in our car. This year we had talked about hosting my family at the cottage. Then meeting up in Milwaukee, then meeting in Chicago. But in the end we made stops in Chicago and Lowell this Christmas. We left on a Sunday which was nice to have a few days to prepare. On the way down to Chicago we stopped at our favorite roadside restaurant, Foster Cheese Haus. We had plans to break up our drives so we didn't have to rush like we normally do. We had made it just before the cheese haus was set to close for the winter. Just not enough folks stop here in winter and snowmobile season is becoming shorter and shorter this far so...
