Halloween in Kingfield and an Early November Bike Ride to Minneapolis Central Library

Another year of Halloween trick or treating in Minneapolis. Mostly up into Kingfield this year.

This year Meadow's friend Saraphina joined us for trick or treating.

Meadow was a mushroom witch and Theo was a bald eagle. Good job with Theo's costume Brookie.

Trick or treating out of the ghostbuster mobile was one of the highlights of the night.

We always have to include the pumpkin house on our route.

I'm partial to the eyeball house. I hope the owner is an eye doctor.

One last stop at the spooky house around the block.

The best thing about getting candy on halloween was sorting it afterwards. Scott didn't believe me that that was a thing.

It's not a thing. But y'all can do whatever you want.

Theo helped me with breakfast this morning.

German apple pancake and eggs.

Homework after breakfast.

And a little bit of sewing.

It had snowed on Halloween and Theo made a snowman. It was still hanging on a couple days later.

After taking off the monkey bars we realized it was better having them on.

Theo likes playing around back there. Might as well keep him on the bike.

We took a ride to the Central Library on this warm beginning to November.

It's still very much fall here.

The trees have hardly changed colors.

We hadn't been to the downtown library in awhile. Now that Meadow is reading teen books I wanted to take her to the teen section at this library.

The teen section is no more and it moved to the children's area.

Noooo!!!!

I clearly love going to the library.

We played for a bit before biking back home.

After deep cleaning the good old Honda Insight, I decided to get an upholstery/carpet cleaner. Now it's time to sell our sweet, sweet Honda. 285,000 plus miles and still going strong.

I had a feeling the water would be gross. We should have bought one of these years ago.

Chelsea got Meadow a cardboard house. It was supposed to be just for her but she has shared it with Theo too.

I was very confused since Meadow is getting older, but I guess she did ask for it. She's grown up a lot in the last year, but she's still a little girl from time to time.

Today's goal was to clean up Meadow's art area under her bed.

So much better.

I would have loved having a reading nook or art area under my bed. Lucky kids.

Mayday in Minneapolis 2025

It's Mayday, the greatest day of the year in Minneapolis. I warned Theo that it was going to be hot today but he still insisted on wearing his high wool socks. Can you blame him. They look so cool. We biked over like we always do. So much easier these days living just across the highway from the South Side. We left later than planned and didn't have our bikes ready so by the time we arrived there were no more spots on the curb to sit. We hung out in the shade until we heard the Battletrain coming. It'll be here soon. Or will it? Every 30 feet this giant cardboard castle did a little show. That would explain the long hold up for the parade to start.

Backcountry Camping with Kids in Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Day 1 Back in May I stumbled upon Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I had no idea there was a National Park in North Dakota and that it was the northern end of the Badlands. Usually our summer vacations coincide with Scott's work trips. Since he didn't have any this summer I thought we should take advantage of actually taking a vacation. What, my workcations are always classics? I suppose a second real vacation this year wouldn't hurt. We definitely have more time than normal. As long as we took Covid-19 precautions and avoided people. We finally settled on a time to go. Blake joined us so we borrowed our dad's van so we could ride together. Scott had just driven from Michigan the day before. Blake had met my parents in Wisconsin to get the van and then drove from Duluth to pick us up. Work Trip to Dallas

Another work trip for Scott means another Chinese buffet. I had to try the best Chinese buffet in Dallas. It just feels like something you do in Texas. I was down in Dallas for a shoot at Parker University. Yeah, I'd also never heard of it. After the shoot and the buffet, I explored the Oak Cliff section of Dallas from L.O. Daniel to the Bishop Arts District. When I go to a sunbelt town I typically look up "most walkable neighborhood" on Reddit. Almost always your best bet in these sprawling metroplexes. Yup, definitely in Texas. I wasn't hungry at this point, but next time I'm in Dallas, I've got to eat at Taqueria El Si Hay. This place just screams, "Really good tacos, here!"
