Farmer's Market and Light Rail Fall Fun

We had to make it to the farmers market for one last trip this year. It's sad no one really goes anymore, but at least there's easy parking.

The last visit is often one of the best. Good prices and the crowds are nonexistent.

The kids each picked a little pumpkin.

Meadow need a circle. Theo was the perfect paper weight.

Theo has been obsessed with jack o lanterns. Every time he sees one he wants to go by it and look at it.

It's starting to get to me, but it's so cute.

This is the first weekend in a long time where we aren't going anywhere, we don't have any guests and no plans. We asked Meadow what she wanted to to do this weekend and she said take the light rail.

So a ride on the light rail we did.

Theo looks like he likes the ride, but he wouldn't sit still. He kept wanting to walk around.

It's a long ride. Can't blame him.

Since we were going on the light rail we decided to go to the children's museum. We hadn't been in a while.

We forgot how buys it gets on weekends.

The best time to go is on a Friday or Saturday after 5. Everyone starts to clear out.

Oh yeah, I cut my hair.

It's really cute on her.

Theo loved the four and under room.

Meadow and Brooke went down the slides while we stayed back.

We'll have to take him back again on his own.

He did not want a bib. Goof.

Meadow's favorite is the rock climbing area.

You get to be featured on a big TV.

Theo likes the water exhibits.

I was getting hungry, so we made our way out of the museum.

It was late and we we never had lunch. Of course we had to go to Mickey's Diner next door. The booths were all full so we sat at the counter. Meadow later told me she liked sitting here better so she could watch the cook.

I'm with you Meadow.

Theo was an old pro at the counter.

The cook was impressed by our well behaved children. They get a lot of the Children's Museum crowd.

That's me digging in and making sure Theo doesn't knock down our shake.

I'd never ordered their fried chicken. It was crispy and juicy. 10/10 I'd order it again.

Then back on the light rail.

Mayday in Minneapolis 2025

It's Mayday, the greatest day of the year in Minneapolis. I warned Theo that it was going to be hot today but he still insisted on wearing his high wool socks. Can you blame him. They look so cool. We biked over like we always do. So much easier these days living just across the highway from the South Side. We left later than planned and didn't have our bikes ready so by the time we arrived there were no more spots on the curb to sit. We hung out in the shade until we heard the Battletrain coming. It'll be here soon. Or will it? Every 30 feet this giant cardboard castle did a little show. That would explain the long hold up for the parade to start.

Backcountry Camping with Kids in Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Day 1 Back in May I stumbled upon Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I had no idea there was a National Park in North Dakota and that it was the northern end of the Badlands. Usually our summer vacations coincide with Scott's work trips. Since he didn't have any this summer I thought we should take advantage of actually taking a vacation. What, my workcations are always classics? I suppose a second real vacation this year wouldn't hurt. We definitely have more time than normal. As long as we took Covid-19 precautions and avoided people. We finally settled on a time to go. Blake joined us so we borrowed our dad's van so we could ride together. Scott had just driven from Michigan the day before. Blake had met my parents in Wisconsin to get the van and then drove from Duluth to pick us up. Work Trip to Dallas

Another work trip for Scott means another Chinese buffet. I had to try the best Chinese buffet in Dallas. It just feels like something you do in Texas. I was down in Dallas for a shoot at Parker University. Yeah, I'd also never heard of it. After the shoot and the buffet, I explored the Oak Cliff section of Dallas from L.O. Daniel to the Bishop Arts District. When I go to a sunbelt town I typically look up "most walkable neighborhood" on Reddit. Almost always your best bet in these sprawling metroplexes. Yup, definitely in Texas. I wasn't hungry at this point, but next time I'm in Dallas, I've got to eat at Taqueria El Si Hay. This place just screams, "Really good tacos, here!"
