Falling for Meadow at 3 months

It's getting cooler outside which means Scott brings out the flannel.

Flannel shirt. Check. Flannel-lined pants. Check. Flannel underwear. Not so much.

I had a quick breakfast then made breakfast again for Scott and I. He always complains I don't make breakfast for him. I'm always so hungry when I get up I have to eat right away.

Oh, man. Everyday I love this woman more. And look at the beautiful daughter we made!

Meadow loves putting everything you give her in her mouth lately.

As you can see we are slowly working on Meadow's room.

I talked to my sister. I was hoping to Skype with her and our newest baby niece, Simone. Unfortunately they don't have internet for the time being.

I've been trying to get her to sleep on her own lately. She fell asleep while I was nursing her then woke up as soon as I moved.

We grew two pie pumpkins this year. Our biggest ones yet.

I prepped them for roasting. I then froze the puree for Thanksgiving pies.

I put on some Bob Marley lullabies and she eventually fell asleep.

Peanut stood on guard and made sure she didn't go anywhere.

This time I saved the seeds for roasting too.

She's so serious when eating peoples fingers.

Its a damn cute face she makes.

A week late but we took some photos of Meadow.

Peanut wanted to be a part of it too.

BLT for lunch. Soon we won't have the luxury of CSA shares and garden harvests.

We listened to more lullabies during lunch.

Meadows arms are too short for her baby gym and she has to be in a good mood to play. Then she gets frustrated that she can't put the toys in her mouth.

Meadow seems to want to eat our food. Sorry bear, but you'll have to wait a few more months for solids.

Scott needs new shoes so we headed to Uptown.

No shoes but we both got some new jeans and Scott got a new sweater.

More of smoking jacket to be honest.

A new Whole Foods opened up downtown. I stopped by a few days ago to pick up some things. Scott wanted to check it out too.

It's a nice addition and the second closest full service grocery store to us. It's nearer than the co-ops, but we'll only get a few staples that are cheaper form Whole Foods. I'm a big fan of their house brand organic noodles. They're less than two bucks.

When we got home I prepped a quick pasta dish with homemade pork sausage and mustard greens.

I wasn't ready to go to sleep so I made chocolate chip cookies.

Mayday in Minneapolis 2025

It's Mayday, the greatest day of the year in Minneapolis. I warned Theo that it was going to be hot today but he still insisted on wearing his high wool socks. Can you blame him. They look so cool. We biked over like we always do. So much easier these days living just across the highway from the South Side. We left later than planned and didn't have our bikes ready so by the time we arrived there were no more spots on the curb to sit. We hung out in the shade until we heard the Battletrain coming. It'll be here soon. Or will it? Every 30 feet this giant cardboard castle did a little show. That would explain the long hold up for the parade to start.

Backcountry Camping with Kids in Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Day 1 Back in May I stumbled upon Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I had no idea there was a National Park in North Dakota and that it was the northern end of the Badlands. Usually our summer vacations coincide with Scott's work trips. Since he didn't have any this summer I thought we should take advantage of actually taking a vacation. What, my workcations are always classics? I suppose a second real vacation this year wouldn't hurt. We definitely have more time than normal. As long as we took Covid-19 precautions and avoided people. We finally settled on a time to go. Blake joined us so we borrowed our dad's van so we could ride together. Scott had just driven from Michigan the day before. Blake had met my parents in Wisconsin to get the van and then drove from Duluth to pick us up. I offered to drive since I literally only drive twice a month. I was still pretty tired from a long drive home. Since we were near Fergus Falls we had to stop by the abandoned state ho...

Work Trip to Dallas

Another work trip for Scott means another Chinese buffet. I had to try the best Chinese buffet in Dallas. It just feels like something you do in Texas. I was down in Dallas for a shoot at Parker University. Yeah, I'd also never heard of it. After the shoot and the buffet, I explored the Oak Cliff section of Dallas from L.O. Daniel to the Bishop Arts District. When I go to a sunbelt town I typically look up "most walkable neighborhood" on Reddit. Almost always your best bet in these sprawling metroplexes. Yup, definitely in Texas. I wasn't hungry at this point, but next time I'm in Dallas, I've got to eat at Taqueria El Si Hay. This place just screams, "Really good tacos, here!"
